| BELL TAKES OFF SAF? SAY WaaaaaHT? Bell to remove System Access Fees November 20th?
By Rob Avison ⋅ November 17, 2009 ⋅ Post a comment
In what seems to be the latest trend in Canada, Bell will follow the others and will be introducing a new set of monthly rate plans that removes the dreaded $6.95 System Access Fee.
The rumour has this taking place in a couple days on November 20th and details are still a bit unclear. According to a Bell internal document it states “Effective November 20th, 2009 Bell Mobility will be launching new pricing for all existing postpaid plans & will no longer be charging the $6.95 system access fee. Review the job aid for more details.”
This news comes out after Rogers recently removed their System Access Fees and introduced the “Government Regulatory Recovery Fee” (GRRF). Also TELUS followed up with ditching their SAF and 911 fees and welcomed in the “Clear Choice” rate plans.
Bell is the last carrier standing with the SAF and there are still questions around how this move will effect current customer monthly rate plans… and if the 911 monthly fee has also been removed. We’ve reached out to our friends for further insight.
Via: TMN http://mobilesyrup.com/2009/11/17/be...november-20th/ If they do this, I will 100% go to bell. |

Including existing postpaid plans.. so that means if I'm currently a Bell customer, they'll drop it from my next billing cycle?

I always thought the SAF was higher than the stated 6.95 in the article. I think my suspicions were confirmed with the picture in the article showing 8.95.
Dang, my plan just dropped down to $40, whoo!

SAF + 911 = $7.70 for bell. NOT including tax.

But the picture in the article says otherwise? I haven't been looking at my invoices in a long time, so I'm not sure if they dropped it to 6.95

^not sure, as I haven't paid much attention to the Rogers plans, but I know Telus jacked up their monthly price plans by $5 just to compensate for the removal of the SAF...
could possibly be the same for Rogers? someone will have to confirm...

could possibly be the same for Rogers? someone will have to confirm... | on the mega value pack which use to be $10 has now been changed to $12 without any notice from Rogers. i only looked at that because i have that plan, but it could also be the rest of the plans with an increase in price to compensate for the SAF

Are you sure they're not just going to crank up all their plans by $7? If so, whoopie-doo.
What I wanna know is if people on a contract (ie me) are going to see their plans drop by $7.

no you wont. in order to get rid of the $7 SAF, you have to move to the 'newer' plans, which include the government fee, and the $5 increase

^ SO basically you are paying 7$ for SAF, but if you switch to a new plan with no SAF you still have the 7$ from the increase in plan pricing + the GRRF..... Wow lol. talk about fakingggg

from my understanding of the fees. those who DON'T pay the SAF, actually pay $0.15 more than those WITH SAF
but i guess those without SAF see it as more beneficial now cause it seems like the $5 goes towards their plan and $2 goes to company as opposed to $7 bucks going straight to the company.
