The New Bauer Vapor Sticks

Has anyone had a chance to use them?

i'm trying to replace my Vapor40 cause it's too low of a flex. i was thinking X40 or X50.

i was looking at the X40 at cyclone and it's not bad, comparable to the Vapor25. but not as good of a feel as my Vapor40 and not nearly as light. also has stickum which i dislike.

my question is has anyone had any experience with them yet?

i'm thinking purely X40 and X50 not interested in the X60 or anything lower than the X40.

i'm unemployed right now, so i can't really go and buy them to figure them out.

Thanks!

Hey,

Honestly the sticks you are looking at are not as nearly good as the vapor xxxx you currently have. the x40 and x50 is basically the 25 and 22 with a new paint job.

If you are focused on getting the x40 or x50 then get it. either one of them will get the job done if the right flex and curve are chosen.

What level of hockey are you playing?

Your XXXX is top of the line whereas the sticks you're currently looking at are price points. I've never been a fan of price point composites, never owned one, never will. If you want a one piece, go top of the line. I've played around with some of my friend's lower end composites in warmups and stick and puck and I must say they are garbage. They're heavy, unbalanced, and lack feel.

If money is a concern I'd go for last year's top of the line models, a two piece or even a wood stick. You'll get better performance out of a $40-$50 wood stick than a $99 composite.

So i guess my critique was right about how they feel

i've decided that i want another vapor 40, but i can't find them anymore..

my level of skill is low

it's just that currently i'm using a vapor xxxx intermediate stick and the flex is way too low for where my shot is now. i'd like a 77.

i'm trying to see if i can find a vapor40 shaft. and just buy a blade later on.

i think the only place where you could find a vapor40 shaft would be online. personally i've never seen a 40 shaft so dont take my word for it. If not, trying looking into the older "SE" shafts.

I was trying out one, and seems like a nice stick. Id love to get a vapour around 77 or so, Im afraid I might break it but I love the flex as I mostly wrist shot, not much of a slapper.

Question: Difference between intermediate and senior sticks? I know height is lower.

the old XXXX is an unbelievable stick...

JR. flex - usually around 50
INT flex - usually 65-75
SR flex - usually 75-100
PRO flex - 100+

JR sticks are good for guys up to around 5'4"
INT sticks are good to almost 5'8"
SR sticks and PRO sticks are the same legnth unless custom made...

i'm 5'3" and a JR stick was too whippy, so i bot an INT67 X:40 P92 RH... the newer low kick technology makes for a pretty sick wrist and snap shot... i noticed teh stick is stiffer between your hands, so your hand angle doesn't change... the flex is down low. the sticks are pretty light...

IMO, if your skill level is low, you'll never reap the benefits of the top of the line stick, and you're better off buying what you can afford... the X:40 probably fits the bill quite well... XXXX were $200+, and unless you're an up and coming WHL superstar, you're not gonna benefit from the 20g less weight of the top of teh line stick...

The old intermediates came in 77 flex, but 77 is a senior flex now. The current INT sticks are 67 flex. The length for int and sr are about the same but the shaft diameter is smaller on the int.

What are your guy's thoughts on the Easton S17 sticks?

With the S19's out now, there are deals to be had on the older S17's.

$150 plus tax and you still get the 30 day consumer warrenty.

Since I just broke my last Macdaddy, I am looking for a new stick and I am interested in this stick.

The S17 is a pure performance stick. If you're worried about durability I wouldn't consider it.

Don't do it. The blades crack, the stick snaps, a whole butt load of problems with that stick. But if you really want to try it out and it so happens that it breaks on you within 30 days, you can exchange that for another stick.

Doesn't sound much different from my MacDaddy's.
In the past year, I've gone through 4 of them. 1 broken blade (caught in the boards) 1 broken shaft (guy tried to run me over and the stick caught him in the groin) and 2 worn out blades from heavy usage (blade bends and the puck flops when I take slap/snap shots)

They do have some pro-return Vapour XXXX's for $150 as well, but I like the idea of some sort of warrenty.

int is thinnger, about 3" shorter, lower flex.

int has 67 and 77 flex for bauer.
sr has 77 87 102(?)

thanks for the link with the intermediate vapor40, unfortunately i find int too short for me, and getting an extension on it would cause lower flex.

i'm actually getting a 2 piece one 95 now.

Why such a low flex? I've gone threw probably 8 sticks in the past few months all being 85 and 87 flex. I chose that route, because Im only 150 pounds, and thought 100+ would be way too still for me. Two weeks about I bought a XXXX at 102, and its unreal. Slap shots are way harder, and more feel with the puck.

i find with a 87 stick, my slap shots are harder, but i rarely ever slapshot,
i wrist and snap a lot more, and that's when flexing is a lot more important imo. so a 87 or 102 is WAY too much for me, even though i'm at around 165lbs.

also with the way they made the 2 piece one95's they're 77 flex but they're about 1.5-2" longer than their 1 piece sticks. so when i cut it down it goes to about 82~ flex. but it hasn't gotten here yet, so i'll just wait for now.

I find the higher end vapor sticks are one of the best out there overall. A couple guys on my team use the new x60 and they love them. the vapors have more of a rounded shaft and the durability on them are pretty good. One of my teammates just broke his vapor xxxx after 3 long years of rep hockey.
