was that you?
sorry man, my ears were ringing from the constant buzzing from the door alarm upstairs (we had the doors open while the elevator was being serviced)
i didnt recognize you at all, but then i was expecting jack sparrow or the joker, hahahaha.
the rest of the crew is probably better at helping you out at the moment, until i familarize myself with parts system. im still very green to the computer systems they use =/ Quote:

ill do some research in the learning center if i can in the next little while. there may be a way.
found out you can rewire the cd changer in the trunk of the e46's to accept an ipod adapter via a friend.
but the sounds of it you may need to either do a slight custom on an aftermarket bt unit.

dependent on options that came from factory (tel prep prewiring and certain production dates) for bt.
same for ipod as well. CD changers cannot be used in conjunction with ipod retrofit kits.
and no, the lil button on steering wheel with the guy speaking icon doesn't mean you have tel prep.

very excited because ill finally be able to put all my skills and knowledge from the automotive field to use! | Your job/career at any workplace is only as good as the manager(s) there and your coworkers make it. It's nice to see another parts guy that takes pride in his work and willing to learn the trade through hard work. If you have spare time at work, go log on to extranet (you should have access to it already, or someone there should be able to give you access), and view the different topics in the knowledge library. There is a wealth of knowledge there that will help you out immensely. You'll find that BMW's are very different from other cars like Hondas and Toyotas, and when you come across things you don't understand (and can't find anyone to explain it to you clearly), you can usually find the answers in the knowledge library.

thanx for the heads up, i was planning on doing some studying time upstairs in the library room after the holidays.
i need to brush up on my reynolds knowledge and the ETK program and i know they have access to all the books up there!
Its just amazes me because i came from a small car mod shop, and all the organization i wished we had, are a must and in place at a large dealership. it cannot survive without it! The parts manager is absolutely cool. He keeps asking me if everything is ok, haha. And the team, i guess my immediate boss right now, is really cool. She bares with all the questions i have, and basically procedures.
eg, today, while putting parts away in the remstar machine (this huge organizing storing and retreiving machine) i found parts in a section that should have been empty. Sounds really stupid but i just cant go and grab it to move it because its in inventory at that location and thus if anyone else tries to look for it, and gets the same problem, we are all screwed! in the end, problem solved, but was cool seeing that my thought process of what to do was correct and verified by my immediate boss. I know it sounds stupid, but being on the other end of the stick, trying to look for something that someone else put away in a sloppy way, and cant find it, is really damn annoying!
Ive always worked for small to medium sized companies before, and thus working for a big company like this is somewhat surprising and a welcome change.
And hey, working with ppl that actually are car guys as well is an added bonus.
i dont plan on being the weakest link in the chain in the parts department. ive never been the slacker, so its also a personal pride thing to knowledge up, learn up, and at least try to keep up with the fast pace guys there. so far the only thing i got going is organization, and fast typing, hahaha. as i said before, im still getting lost in such a huge building! i walked thru the mechanics bay for the 2nd time ever since starting at brian jessel's.
boy i miss the scent of motor oil and general metal smell =P

you at brian jessel too? cool. just today i met one of the techs, he spotted me as the RS guy, and also mentioned how his account went inactive, hahaha.
well, i was in ur position before, front line, sales/service. i dont mind dealing with all the variety of ppl. customer service was/is what im good at. ppl dont realize how long it takes to get somethign done on a car. they may have went to some budget place before, so you have to remind them, if they want that type of speed, no problem, we will just have to over look some safety issues and possibly even say we did somethings, but not actually do them. after the brief talk, most are understanding. Whoever said that sales n service is something ANYONE can do, is full of shit, and are arrogant fucks. It may be the single most over looked profession, that DOES require finesse, and a lot of personel skills.
i donno about chill n relaxed. in the morning, we are rushing to help the driver get on his way, putting his orders and lists together. all that before 1030, then after that we are putting all the other orders for the parts advisor guys together, and meet the demands of the techs (mechanics). we are running around putting away parts while helping getting and locating parts. Maybe someday I'll see you at mercedes since there're a bunch of ex-bmw ppl working in mercedes. have fun at your new job, it's always exciting to start something new.

Brian Jessel BMW is staying Brian Jessel BMW. 2 stores down from Merc Benz dealership on Boundary, you will see a newly renovating building, Brian Jessel Autohaus.
Basically, Brian Jessel BMW is just growing so big and successful, they need more room!
