I doubt you losing the phone will result in telus losing a contract over you.

If you are no longer on contract, you can sign another one so that you get a free phone/discounted phone but other than that, you're hooped.

So if you're still on contract, you have to either buy a new phone at full price OR you can try to sign a new contract/extend with a discounted price.

But if you're off contract, you can sign/extend and get a new phone with discount.

for starters, i'd try calling your own phone first and see if anyone picked it up. it's a Telus phone, so cross your fingers who ever has it is smart enough to know they won't be able to reuse or sell it off (assuming it's the cdma version).

if that doesn't work, inform telus so they don't rack up long distance charges or whatever using your phone. might as well ask the telus rep what they can offer you as well, though it will be close to what CRS has mentioned. unfortunately, you losing your phone doesn't void the original contract (unless it's expired).

if you have a bb password and owner info - the thief will realize its useless and mail it back to you.

if its a corp phone with exchange setup, some exchange services have the ability to backup your data and lock your phone remotely. it'll be nothing more than a paperweight for the thief. just have to talk to ur network admin.

i know your with telus, but rogers has a "lost/stolen phone" program, im sure telus does as well. they offer discounted phones. BB Bold (V1) goes for about 559 + taxes via the lost phone program at rogers.

If you're within the 1st year of the contract you're on your own. If you're past 1 year, they should have a mid-contract discount available for you; basically a credit towards the non-contract price of a new phone but eliminates your current term and starts a fresh 3 year.
