Going from Android to WinMo 6.5

So i`ll be getting a HTC WinMo phone in a few days

What i`m trying to do is copy my Android contacts, and SMS`s, and directly transferring it to the WinMo phone.

Im under the impression I have to sync my Android contacts's and SMS's onto my computer, and then when I get my WinMo phone, sync it from the computer into WinMo?

I tried using the Exchange ActiveSync that comes with my Android, but its asking for a email and password, so I've typed in my main Gmail account info in, but it's not working...

Can anyone shed me some light as to how I can backup my contacts/SMS from the Android onto PC?

Thanks!

I'm on Windows 7 btw.

ActiveSync needs to sync with Outlook and/or an Exchange server. You'll need to install Outlook (not Outlook Express) if you don't have it already. That can sync your contacts, notes, calendar, email, bookmarks, and a few other things... but not SMS.

For SMS, you'll probably need to find an app for your Android phone that can export the SMS to some common file format (CSV or something), then something else that can re-import them into WinMo.

Do you not already have your android phone syncing with your gmail?

Why would you use the exchage sync app to sync your gmail? And not the gmail app?

Anyways, the easiest way to get ur contacts over to ur winmo phone is to sync with google.

Then follow the instructions to have ur winmo device setup to sync with google and pull the data.

hmm, cause whenever I sync with google, it keeps syncing email contacts onto my phone, which i don't want, and it gets really annoying

I only want to sync my phone with phone #'s, not email addresses.

Unless you know a way around this? Thanks

Why would you not want to have emails in your contact list?

I know what you mean, but when I sell things on craigslist, all those craigslist emails (xyz@craigslist.org) would appear on my contact list, and I don't want to sync them onto my list.

Initially I didnt't want to bother going into Google and deleting all those CL emails, but I just did it now and synced everything together so it's all good
