Question for Not Really Racist!
During late night, do you guys drop baskets of fries in the same oil used for frying McNuggets and McChicken? I notice that the fries taste different, but late at night only. Or is it all in my head?
I don't know the answer to the practice because the McDonald's I worked at closed at 11pm. Man, it's been 15 years since I worked at McDonald's. Fuck, I'm old.

I don't know the answer to the practice because the McDonald's I worked at closed at 11pm. Man, it's been 15 years since I worked at McDonald's. Fuck, I'm old. | Well think about late night, the objective is to make the most amount of money possible, with the least amount of labour, very stressful at times so you can see where this is going, procedures do go out the window. There is something called late night shop, but its the same guy doing it, and you can kinda guess when he comes, and it doesn't matter THAT much in the grand scheme of things
Saving money also means only using a few vats, back at my store we used 2/3 fry vats and 2/4 fried products vats to save electricity and oil. Maintenance guys need to clean the vats too, and this happens every night surprisingly. It could be just a time when the backend people are low/down on products and then they need to throw it into the fry vats or even the vats are filtering and they need product. It could be your head but it could be latter too, but it doesn't really happen. I've seen it done before though
If its the latter the taste is different because of the temperature of the oil, and the cooking time, and/or the basket used. Could be someone lazy dropping two bags of nuggets into the same basket and they stick. The vats should all be the new upgraded ones, and they have a really good filtering system, and the incentive with filtering is that the oil lasts significantly longer so debris in the oil should not matter. They also print stats of this at meetings (lol) and grill the manager(s) on duty if its not above 95%.
McChicken - 4min35s @ 360F
McNuggets - 3min30s @ 360F
Fries - ~3mins @ ~335F

Thanks for the thorough explanation.
It's not very often I get McDonald's late at night. Usually after a late night of drinks with some colleagues and former classmates at The Cascade the the bar manager kicks us out. I swear, I used to think it's all in my head, but this is a lot more reassuring. And yes, it is your old store. LOL!

cooked in 100% vegetable oil (canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil (TBHQ), citric acid, dimethylpolysiloxane).
USA:

from the Guys Guide to Hong Kong Quote:
It’s tough when new menu items must use existing facilities and supply chains. There’s only so much one can improve on the existing menu so it was shocking to find black pepper sauce in my batman burger.Black pepper sauce was warm with terrible consistency and taste. Unknown white sauce melted with the slice of cheese.

Haven't tried it yet
My wife did get a Superman bubble gum soda float, and it was gross
And yes, they use black pepper sauce way too much here. They get a McRib like sandwich once in a while, but they always use black pepper sauce, and it's nasty... Way to ruin the McRib |

As in, if you ordered their equivilant of a McChicken, would the chicken patty taste like something you would get at an HK cafe? Or does it have that distinct McDonald's taste?

They never use enough salt on the fries.

/rant /fattycomplaints | Depends on the county/area, for example, McDonald's in Seattle downtown cost more than other counties.
