I need to borrow/rent a jigsaw to finish the cuts and some paint to finish, yet so far so good. The Ikea chair is low, and with the pedals raised it feels very close to sitting in a car.

$30 Ikea laptop table
$5 Ikea laptop stand
$10 of screws, nuts, bolts
$7 sheet of MDF
$5 for 3/4" plumbing baseplate and nipple
==
$57

I didn't think it'd be as stable as it is. The 3/4" nipple fits almost perfectly in the Ikea laptop stand, and a couple bolts drilled through tightened it up.

Might have missed this, but can you re-win cars this time around?

ex. Win championship, earn car, sell it, erase, and start over, win car again?

I think they must have fixed that in GT2, if it ever was possible

For the guys with steering wheel/pedal set ups,

I'm considering the logitech driving force pro, but I noticed it only has 2 pedals.
I'm assuming it's a pretty big difference in gameplay if there's no clutch pedal?

Get the Logitech G25 or G27. It's worth it.

I am still debating over whether to get it, I agree with others who say it's a learning curve but all my experiences with the g27 have been disappointing and the steering is way too light, I guess it is adjustable but I don't really get any feel out of the wheel and always snap oversteer.

I think if I do buy a seat it will be the obutto but i'm more likely to build something like taylor with the ikea desk and some drills. Oh well another week and a half to make my decision, not gonna get caught up with anything until after finals :P

Although if I order a wheel now I can get it by christmas I think :/ Memory express said 2 weeks

Is the DFGT that big of a difference because my friend has one sitting around that I can just take (i mean borrow )

Get the G25! I love it and its worth it. Get a larger wheel too :P
I modified mine, MOMO Race wheel, flipped pedals and heavier shift. Use my setup and you won't be disappointed. It rocks!!!
By the way... I LOVE THE 87 MUGEN CIVIC! It handles and performs so well! I thought I would get smoked but no way, its a walk through the park. 20,400 credits every time I race on Autumn Ring under Professional. Easy way to make cash so far.

you can shift into 2nd gear no problem after that? many are reporting the issue on the g25/g27
http://community.eu.playstation.com/.../td-p/11911975
also my gears always turn back to neutral when i collide with other cars with quite a bit of force

Funny GT5 story... I was at work yesterday, and had a customer calling in and saying that he wanted to trade GT5 for something that's less disappointing.

I said "Sorry sir, we can't accept games back once they've been opened... I'm sorry you found it disappointing but we can't take it back."

And then hung up and started laughing with the other staff who were listening in.
