Toyota makes some great cars that will last pretty much forever. | A reliable car imo is a good car, but it just doesn't fit into the category of great. Thats like saying a piece of granite is great because it lasts forever.

The NSX I'll give you since it was more or less the first "common man's" supercar.

The people who've mentioned Toyota have no idea what they're talking about - this thread is not about the car company with the most boring cars.

^ They got to #1 by making "Reliable" vehicles that were economical. Basically Brand power and no one said they were shit cars, just that not a lot of them were "Great" cars.

The OP could have made his definition of "great" a little more clear. There are great cars and then there are cars destined for greatness.
The Honda Accord's a great car. Cheap, reliable, good on gas, decent performance and decent luxury. But is that what the OP was talking about when he said great.
The Ford GT-40, who trounced on Ferraris at Lemans, was no doubt loud, rickety and not one bit refined. But that car was destined for greatness from the start.
So this question can't be answered until the OP defines what "great" means.

the topic is too vague, as vague as our exhaust laws.
what do you define as a great car? even if u were to specify it as performance, this doesnt help much?
is it great as most desired? still found on the road? greatest heritage? greatest development from track to street?

Very true, great needs to be more defined. Also, everyone needs to stop posting one word answeres like "nissan" without trying to explain why. Why are they great? What cars, what reasons? Anything of substance.

I agree it sorta depends on how you define "great" - but all in all I'd say Ford as well.
I have 3 volvo's, but it definitely ain't volvo.
They only ever sold diesel cars from ~1980-1989, and it was a horrible, horrible bastardized VW motor. They are almost all dead now. The diesel they have now is nice but not sold in North America.
The horrible french V6 they offered as their only 6 cylinder engine from ~1978-1991 is another terrible, terrible motor as employed by Volvo.
They've made some good cars but highest number of great cars? What? Smoke crack much?
