New to Blackberry..need some help

Hi guys... just got the blackberry curve 8520 and liking it so far.

One trouble tho....I currently dont have a data plan yet so im trying to access internet through Wifi from home with my Wireless router

When I realized I got connected by looking at Wi-Fi and there my connection name appears,

the first page comes out from the browser is the data day pass.

it says you attempt to use the internet without a valid data plan. Is my Wi-Fi not working? Do i have to make it as default?

im stuck...and confused

make sure the wi-fi symbol is actually colored solid white. when its a sort of transparent white (or grayish), it means it hasn't completely picked up the signal yet. tends to happen almost everytime you switch wi-fi on

make sure you follow that tutorial that I've posted in terms of changing the browsers to hotspot config etc.

also, since you don't have a data plan, i'd suggest wifi surfing with your sim card pulled out otherwise the phone will start using the best available connection, which would be the rogers/fido 3g network without telling you and racking up data plan fees.

you can bypass this by calling up rogers/fido and telling them you want to block the " data transfer " on your phone, this way it won't connect to the 3g network.

make sure the wi-fi symbol is colored solid white. If not, pull out the battery and set up your wi-fi again.

And on the browser configuration, use hotspot browser instead of rogers mall
