| BCIT parking safety?
I'm going to BCIT this upcoming year.
Is parking at BCIT safe? I have heard some bad things about cars getting stolen there. I drive a 240SX with an alarm.
Any ideas/advice/experience?

As far as I know they have security guards patrolling the parking lots during the day
Or at least they did when I was there FT

Every parking lot has theft issues. BCIT really isn't any different. I would assume it to be the same as say SFU or UBC.
There are security guards there but who knows if they will actually do anything.

BCIT is crap for parking safety. When I was there almost every day I would see a car that was
broken into or a parking spot full of shattered glass. MY car got broken into twice in 6 months.
After that it was the skytrain and bus for me.
I herd people had there cars broken into so many times that they would leave there doors unlocked
so thieves would not break there windows to get in.
I don't understand how they could have camera's guy on foot buys on bikes and guys in cars and still h
ave so many break in's.
If you can leave your car at home and take transit.

Just make sure you part around the main entrance. people are always around that area so less chance. parking in trade area = increase chance. however if you got an alarm i think you will be fine

as long as you get there early u get a good spot
if ur late you mite park far from the buildings or in the gravel lot and those spots are super empty and easy for someone to break in without anyone noticing
if you could take transit saves a ton of money instead of paying 3.50 a day for parking + gas

I parked all over the campus, as close as the visitor parking by SE6 to the gravel lot by Moscrop. Those security guys there are useless, I wouldn't count of them to keep your car safe.
Parking on the campus is about as safe as parking anywhere else, in my opinion. Perhaps the risk is higher as the youth detention centre is across the street.

There is a bike patrol, but they are useless from what my friends tell me. Friend of mine had his car broken into twice over the course of a year in the same parking lot. If you have an alarm and a club, maybe robbers will think twice?? Leave nothing laying in the car, take the deck out whatever yo have to do .

They house people from the downtown east side across the street.
