Since the OII is officially released in NA, I thought I would share some custom ROM news here.
How the Omnia II ROM Works: The Omnia II rom comes in 4 components:
Eboot - think of it as being like a BIOS
CSC - This contains the language information, keyboards, carrier info, etc.
PDA - The main component of the ROM - OS, all Samsung software, etc
Phone - Controls all radio functions
Thankfully, because of this, it is almost impossible to brick your phone. You will usually only have to change the PDA and CSC components, leaving the Eboot and Phone intact.
You may run into issues with only updating the PDA component, if you are using a Chinese CSC. This is a rare problem (one that I ran into) so I don't need to go into it here.
It should be possible to update an i8000L (North American version) device with any PDA component. Since nobody has dumped an i8000L ROM yet though, you won't be able to switch back if it doesn't work. If I find an i8000L ROM, I'll post it here and you guys can go crazy with it
NOTE: So far, the rom updater software only seems to work in 32bit XP or Vista.
Available ROMS:
Secany's ROM - Secany was the first to post roms, and has been doing so since the Omnia II was introduced. For most Omnia II users all over the world, this is the only way to get WM6.5 on their phones (since Samsung has only released it to a few countries). His latest is K5 (K meaning November, 5 being the 5th release of that month):

File 1 RODRIGOFD O2 LITE ROM v.091203
Based on secany's K5 rom, this one strips out most of the bloated Samsung software. He did leave in the following:
Samsung Camera App
Samsung FM Radio App
Samsung Touch Player
Arcsoft Streaming Player (includes video and audio codecs)
He also added:
Windows Live latest version including Messenger
Removed CAB setup security check
Microsoft SDK Certs
Ginkage's OPENGL WRAPPER version 0.258
NET Compact Framework 3.5
HTC LEO WM 6.5 theme with wallpaper
SRS WOW HD
Other than that, it's a very based WM6.5 install. It has about 85MB free at boot.
Download it from
here (you have to go to the page and find the download link yourself) This is the PDA component only, it is recommended to use the updated Phone component from Secany's rom above.
LE-O2 FUSION
The same guy is also working on taking the HTC HD2 ROM and transplanting it over to the Omnia II. It looks to be working already, which is pretty neat. It gives O2 users yet another choice for user interfaces.
