Anybody wanna crash the BMO Vancouver Marathon route on May 5th? haha. maybe make a list if anyone is interested. Gotta wake up super early though. InfinityList Full route is this. http://www.bmovanmarathon.ca/wp-cont...n-20130409.pdf Here are the times for road closures. No cars on the roads. Just curious though if there will be cops on some of the cross streets on the route. haha. Community - Road Closures- BMO Vancouver Marathon |
just got home from a 40k cruise with a buddy through Richmond and iona. Not sure what it is about night riding but the feeling is almost serene! Started at 1015 ish and took our time... Made a stop at McDonald's post ride to reclaim those calories well earned haha Posted via RS Mobile |
I love going on night rides! Streets aren't as full, it's a lot more quiet, and you get that cool breeze Posted via RS Mobile |
I just got in from my nightly commute. It's still a little chilly for short sleeves but I do shorts no problem. Usually see coyotes and racoons rummaging around at this hour. |

As for that other Blossum ride, it's the usual Critical Mass-holes. Bring your cruiser bike, and don't wear your kit. |

From what I've seen, the Critical Mass'ers are more interested in making a spectacle of themselves and causing havoc for drivers, and not so much interested in riding itself. I really don't wish to be present when something like this happens: |

I think maybe it's what the market wants? Almost every other person I meet who wants a bike (usually their first) says "I want something with disc brakes." I don't believe in it though. :\ |
the newer the gimmick the faster you ride. Scientifically proven fact! Posted via RS Mobile |
No question about the performance and improvement offered up by disc brakes for MTB's and cyclocross bikes, anything with excesive mud/water/grime exposure. For road bikes, I don't see it happening because of increased weight and complexity, though it is nice to never have to worry about wearing rims out. Even hydro rim brakes are overkill IMO, there's such a small contact patch between tire and road, braking power is rarely the limiting factor for road bikes. Although in the mid 90's I also used to think that disc brakes for MTB's wouldn't pan out either because their were so heavy and unreliable back then. Hopefully SRAM can get their QC hammered down. Their MTB hydraulic systems have developed a pretty bad rep the last few years for poor reliability and finicky to maintain. I used to think that electronic shifting was gimmicky too. But its stuck around a few years, gained traction, been refined to the point where it's now pimp status :) |
Just finished another bike. Like the other Kona, got this frame off eBay last summer and have been slowly building it up. Mash-up of Shimano parts. http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/d...psc3ea8d4e.jpg http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/d...ps962e5725.jpg The parts list: Frame: 2006 Kona Zing Supreme (Aluminum/Carbon made by Dedacciai) 52cm Handlebars/Stem: Cinelli Neo / Ritchey WCS Fork/Headset: Kona Carbon / FSA Orbit integrated Front Wheel/Tire: Shimano WH-RS10 with Schwalbe Stelvio 700x23 Rear Wheel/Tire: Shiamano WH-RS10 with Schwalbe Stelvio 700x23 Crankset/Bottom Bracket: Shimano Ultegra 6700 / Ultegra Saddle/Seat Post: Prologo Scratch Pro Ti / Ritchey WCS Carbon Pedals/Chain: Shimano 105 / SRAM PC-1071 Shifters/Derailleurs: Shimano Dura-Ace 7800 / Shimano Dura-Ace 7800 Cassette: Shimano Ultegra CS-6700 Brakes: Shimano Ultegra 6800 Misc: Stella Azure tap, Bontrager carbon bottle cages, Gore cables, Jagwire inline adjusters, Campagnolo seat post clamp Wheels and tires could probably be better, but good enough for training as-is. I'll probably end up using this bike for the Gran Fondo. Haven't really put it through it's paces yet, just around the block a couple times and it felt pretty smooth. Looking forward to more rides on it! |
$3000 Air Pump by the CoV. Or was it $5000, I can't remember. http://i646.photobucket.com/albums/u...psf3ea0946.jpg |
azncreationz - Beautiful bike! :fappery: Alphamale - Your saddle bag looks radioactive! :troll: Went for a casual stroll along the seawall at False Creek, over the Burrard Bridge and through Yaletown. Soooooo smoooooooth. :sweetjesus: http://www.trianglecafe.ca/misc/bcrd..._vancouver.jpg |
that bike is gorgeous. my fixie is a grey frame with black/silver accents as well :D |
What bike lube are you guys using? I think the one I'm using isn't staying on that well or penetrating enough. |
I'm using one called purple extreme. Doesn't feel thick, stays on the chain nicely and as long as u wipe off the excess well it won't throw it all over the frame I wish the bottle had a long applicator tip tho Posted via RS Mobile |
I like proline. doesn't gum up and collect gunk as much as others. just have to check your chain regularly. |
I use proline as well, no problems so far. Posted via RS Mobile |
Question for you guys I was about to pull the trigger on a Fizik Antares Braided Rail seat, but it turns out my seat post has a Lateral clamp instead of vertical (braided rail = 7x9, mine can only fit 7x7). Any aluminum seatpost's with vertical clamping you guys would recommend? ~20-25mm set back. Not looking to break the bank cuz the seats already crushing the wallet lol |
what diameter is your post? i have a few lying around you can have but i'm not sure what the clamp dimensions are |
