kayceeee I've been using the MEC chain cleaner and degreaser with great success.

Boo! My request for a day off was denied earlier today.

As for riding solo and piss breaks, I try to keep my rides around 3-4 hours so I can piss when I get home. I still don't have a lock for my bike lol

Same, MEC's chain cleaner + degreaser is fair priced and works great.

I bought my tools through ebay. Not the best quality, but does the trick and is cheap.

something like this.

Park Tool Chain Gang Chain Cleaning System - Cap's Westwood Cycle, pedaling good clean fun for 80 years

thanks
I bought some of the Pedro's stuff from John @ PMS. He gave me a pretty sweet deal. I bought the bike wash and polish from him.

I went to MEC and bought the $5.95 chain cleaner and the jug of degreaser and Prolink chain lube. The degreaser works but because I'm very particular, I should have bought something stronger but nonetheless, it works and it's cheap.

Man all you guys and your fancy chain cleaners and gizmos.

I just used some Varsol (paint thinner with low flash point) and a dollar store paint brush. Throw the chain in a bucket let it soak for 10 min brush all the links inside and out and blow of with air compressor. Lube liberally with your favourite oil (I use Castrol motorcycle chain lube) wipe off excess and done

This is what I should have used instead.

Anybody with BB30 and is feeling like a gangster should get these ASAP (calling 604CEFIRO)
Cannondale Si Carbon BB30 Crankset 170, 53/39 - Pinkbike

I would get these but I'm not strong enough to ride a standard crank.

I use to use paint thinner. Haven't had anything work better! You can keep the dirty old stuff and reuse it too. I will probably pick up some more environmentally friendly stuff soon though. The hippies are wearing off on me. lol.

So, you disassemble your chain every time? I just take off the rear wheel and use the slack in the chain, take two or three rotations of the chain, but then I don't feel like im wearing out the master link. +1 for old toothbrush

I've never had to take a leak on a ride. Did a 112km ride about 2 weeks back and my friend went 3x and I was fine. I think its because I sweat like a beast haha

Wow, Wiggle delivery is pretty hit and miss.

Ordered another Selle Italia Flite saddle for my Cinelli last Thursday (May 23) - showed up today. Often, things took about 2 weeks.

No duty.
No tax.
Will buy again. A++.

Not sure if it was due to the weight I lost from puking from a little overindulgence in booze last night, or the anger when my credit card was compromised half way through my ride. But I set a new Prospect record. 3:19. Coming for you Will!

What were your times like when you were on the drops? I couldn't ride on the drops doing hill climbs - just absolutely no way. I would have toppled over.

lol dood u ride the whole time in the drops, its crazy.

i have no doubts that u can do sub 3 minutes on prospect point hill hud 91gt!! you got crazy legs and ur very strong at attacking

We just have to figure out how to ride it correctly / where the attack etc.

My last ride there, i did two laps trying to figure out where i'm losing speed and where to attack.

You know that very first left hair pin turn where the grade ramps up? I'm able to hold 33km's/hr as i hit the middle of the turn, but i lose it ALL as it straightens out, and my speed drops anywhere between 21-25kms/hr.

I think with some practice on gearing, where im approaching it and the line, i could carry the speed through the climb.

you gotta be able to hold an average of 26km's/hr through the whole climb to hit sub 3 minutes...

You're talking about only Alphamale, OTG-ZR2, 604CEFIRO, hud 91gt and yourself, right?

I've just been experimenting with holding a single gear and rpm the entire climb. As it gets steeper, I push harder. Today I started the climb at 23.5km/h and my pace obviously changed a bit for the whole climb. But I never changed gears until the top where I almost died. Haha.

You all realize it's Bike to Work Week right? Hit up any of the commuter stations, and they have tons of pocket sized maps for Vancouver, BBY, Richmond, Coquitlam, Surrey, etc for free. Shows all the bike routes, where the steep hills are, parks, washrooms, etc. Some food freebies as well, and free minor tune-ups.
Anyways, last day is tomorrow, so the wrap-up party is at Union and Gore starting at 4pm. Free burgers! 1st come 1st served. I'll be there, maybe see some of you there!
