sorry for the long post, so went in for my fitting today and picking up my bike, and boy it feels so much nicer to ride now. got cleat adjusted, saddle angle, height etc, now my balls arent crushed as my saddle was angled wrong. also lowered the front by one spacer. using the sram front mount for the garmin500, much better viewing angle. no more head all the way down.

going in next week for a second fit, need a longer stem and narrower handlebars, then im all set.

went for a ride at stanley park after, must say the fitting was much needed, everything feels a lot better, less the stem/bars, and the boyd vitesse + pro race 4 SC, with a fitting, made the ride feel better, wheels roll a lot smoother than the rs10, rear hub sound is pretty loud

Bike Ride Profile | stanley park ride near Vancouver | Times and Records | Strava

tried to go hard the first time up prospect, not sure what helped the most, with the fitting/boyds/pro race 4, i improved my climb from my previous best of 4:32 to 3:59. which is still slow compared to you guys , but it felt a lot better, but that took quite a bit of me and my other climbs i struggled. and hit a personal best of 61km/h down the hill after prospect. lots of work to do, but overall it was good to test it out today.

here comes the spam of pics, excuse me

Found an awesome 50k ride from Penticton out past Naramata and back. The half way point drops you down to the lake and the climb back up is steeeep. If anyone comes out this way during the summer with bikes let me know and I'll take you out there...a fantastic way to spend a few hours and I could use some company

Fell over on my first ride using clipless pedals yesterday!
Was at the intersection of Ontario and Broadway waiting for a light at a complete stop chatting w/ Alphamale and I leaned a little to far on my clipped in side and down I went! Haha, at least I fell on a bed of bushes. I'm sure it looked quite hilarious from Alphamale's POV.

Great ride though! Fun times.

lol. You will be surprised at how many ppl fall there. Usually its because they are peddling up Ontario and get stopped at Broadway by the light. When the light turns green, the cyclist is too tired to start up again uphill and usually falls over. Lol, happen to me before when I started using clip less as well. haha

Must be the SRAM Red groupset.

Jokes aside, I think your fitting probably yield the best gains out of everything. When you are properly fitted, you are then capable of maximizing your body and muscle groups to push forward with a much higher efficiency compared to before.

I'm sure the wheels and tires helped too but a near 30 second difference is significant!

Lol, that's just like my first time on clipless pedals too. Fell into some bushes. What do you use? I have some SPD pedals and I find that it can be finicky to get in sometimes.

The GF bought me the 105 SPD-SL pedals. First time using them yesterday and it was pretty easy clipping in and out. However, only feel comfortable un-clipping my left foot and leaving my right clipped in at stops. Doing it vice-versa just feels very awkward.

After my ride yesterday I'm having some knee pain Hurts when going up stairs but not down. Might have to take a few days off of riding.

I saw the ride you did (but I only did the Richmond / East Van segment.) Had the same problems. Gave it a few days rest and feeling good as new.

How were the winds when you were in Richmond?

Winds were average. I guess it was the constant pushing for 30 km.

Yeah, that destroyed me. Headwinds on the day I rode were insane. Even trying to hit 30km/h average was a bad idea. And all that wind crushing you just drains you.

Pain in your joints is most often related to fitness or fit. Fit is easy to diagnose, so try making some adjustments. It really depends on where the pain is. Best thing if you haven't do e so is to get fitted.

Yeah I got fit but I made a saddle change recently and this was my first long ride on it. Might have to go in for a follow up.

Anybody want a pair of older banged up, but perfectly functioning ultegra pd-6610 spd-sl pedals and two sets of cleats? $50

Cleats themselves run for $40.

Yeah, me too! I can't seem to stay clipped in on my left and unclipped on the right, only the opposite. I have been trying to do the recommended way but it feels unnatural to me.
