I picked up a Ultegra cassette for my road wheels. Seems similar to the 105 on my cross wheels except it uses plastic spacers between gears to save some weight :okay:

what do you mean by +1 size?

Like you ordered a Large instead of Medium? Pls elaborate

Yeah, I ordered one size larger than what I order locally. I got an XL top and bib instead of L (based on jersey's from Castelli)

Ref: 184cm, medium built, size 32 waist.

Ditto.

I had to order 2 sets of the XXL Rapha Condor-Sharp kits but requested through chat and through messaging that I want one XL jersey and one XXL jersey. Becareful and ensure they understand the request because they nearly screwed up my order. I'm pretty sure they're using Bablefish or Google Translate LOL!

What about sizing, are they pretty close to North American sizings?

bcrdukes 08-01-2013 02:11 PM

I hope I'm understanding your question correctly but take my word for it - trust their sizing chart as you see on the vendor's page. The fit is slightly more towards the "North American" sizing and not compression tight (i.e. Pearl Izumi) but if you start comparing to Castelli or Rapha - no way. Don't even use them as a baseline because the Europeans cut their sizes for a tighter and slimmer fit.

guys with sidi boots. Do you find them to run one size too small? and better off buying one size biggeR?

Heads up if anybody needs a new 11-28t cassette. There is a seller on eBay right now, selling new Shimano Ultegra 6700 11-28t cassettes for $60, including a new Shimano HG chain! This cassette alone is selling for $120 at MEC. Couldn't resist and picked up a set for myself. Now the Fondo will be a bit easier. :)

edit: Don't tell me it's not Dura-Ace. I know. The weight savings is only 30g, while the Ultegra will last twice as long.

link to buyer?

I've owned both Sidi motorcycle boots and bike shoes. I don't believe in the whole "size up" Internet advice. In my own experience, it does not work.

Sidi has different profiles for shoes and their boots. If the shoe/boot doesn't have a weird name or size to it (i.e. Mega etc.) you can assume it is a slim European fit (catered to Europeans/white people - sorry not trying to be racist or offensive etc.)

I'm a size 9US regular shoe. My Sidi Vertigo Air motorcycle boots are a 43 Euro and it's too big length wise. Width is too small because I have a wide toe box. Had I known (because I'm a moron) I should have bought their mega size which is a wide toe box.

As for cycling shoes, I've had the Sidi Terra T2 (Cx/MTB shoe) Sidi Nevada (entry level budget as hell road shoe) and now the Sidi Genius Carbon 5. I sized down to a 42.5 thinking I could use the extra space but no - it eventually stretches out and now there's a slight gap in the toe box length wise. In terms of the toe box, it was sorta tight at first but now it molded to my feet and it works. Had Sidi offered a mega size in that shoe, I would have bought a 42 (roughly a size 9US.)

Your experience may vary so just keep that in mind and get sized properly. Each and every manufacturer is different. My Gaerne's are a size 42.5 and they fit perfectly.

I have a question for those who have done a bike fitting. Where did you go and how was your experience? I'm currently looking around at different places and everyshop seems to do a "bike fit". Are they all similar in terms of quality of fit?

as others, i can say my experience whether its for fitting or just bike servicing, i've had nothing but top notch service from john @ pms. thorough explanation, took his time, gave me options or what i needed. turnaround time was good and just felt like he cared for his customers and his business. not just trying to brush anyone off and tries to fit me in to his schedule and mine.

I think there's a few of us in this thread who are doing the Gran Fondo Whistler, myself included.

OTG-ZR2 08-02-2013 12:28 AM

Yep doing the Fondo. Goal this year is to complete it. Hopefully next year I'll be able to set a time and aim for that.

OTG-ZR2 08-02-2013 09:57 AM

So that scumbag who stole the bike is on the front page of the Provence today.

604CEFIRO 08-02-2013 10:42 AM

^ just saw the article on theprovince.com

Yes, i'll be doing the Fondo as well. Aiming to finish in 4hrs - 4.5hrs.

kayceeee 08-02-2013 10:56 AM

now that i've thought about it, might want to give it a shot this year, not going to aim for a time but aim to finish. :okay:

dink 08-02-2013 12:14 PM

aliexpress taking forever to send out the replica rapha jersey i ordered :(

604CEFIRO 08-02-2013 12:17 PM

^ dont stress over it. process time is 1-5 days usually before it even gets sent out.

expect to receive it within 30-45 days.

Just b/c a few of us received goods within 7-10 days doesnt mean that it happens every single time

roastpuff 08-02-2013 04:25 PM

I just got surgery done on my leg... I feel a bit sad, it seems like something always keeps me from riding a lot this summer. :-(
