The bike "works" on paper. I do enjoy riding it. It works. But it's not optimal. I was gonna ship it down to LA.

Went for first 100km of the year.
Bike Ride Profile | First metric century of the year near Richmond | Times and Records | Strava

I was so tired the last 20km. Any tips on how to stay stronger through to the end? I ate 3 cliff bars on the ride, but I feel like I should brought 4...

roastpuff 08-03-2013 12:37 PM

I think a good tip is 1 bar per hour... and lots of water to stay hydrated. Congrats on the first century though!

604CEFIRO 08-03-2013 03:18 PM

eating solid food during the ride causes me to feel uncomfortable b/c my body is digesting solids.

gels on the other hand digest faster and easier.

if im doing 100kms+, i have 1 water, 1 gaterade, 3 gels and 1 cliff bar on me.

Eat a good breakfast (nothing heavy in fats etc) 2hrs before your ride. Oatmeal + milk + bananas + raisins.

Where can I find a strong degreaser to clean out all the grease out of my headset bearings?

edit: better question is which degreaser to use

There's always WD-40... I just use one I got from my bike shop along with my brush.

that sucks man. I`m trying to find a bike to buy so I`ll be on CL all the time. Will keep an eye out for it.

OTG-ZR2 08-06-2013 08:11 AM

Use paint thinner as a degreaser. Cheaper than brake clean. Just soak your parts and use a oil paintbrush to clean bearings and such.

Anyone hitting up Crankworks this Friday?
