Is anyone doing the Cypress Challenge? I work with a few guys from Glotman Simpson, but I've only done Cypress twice before.

Finally did seymour this morning.

It's definitely more difficult than Cypress...

edit: so instead of bees swarming u like when going up cypress, there are massive HORSE FLIES... and i think one bit my thigh because when i got back down from the top, i stopped at the gas station jokin with my buddy about the dead bug splatter on my thigh.

i get home, and theres a tiny round bruise, and i was able to squeeze blood out of the bruise... one of those flies took a bite outta my leg lol

for those doing the fondo, where are you guys staying or are you guys taking the bus back?

looked at few hotels and they're expensive as fk compared to regular days lol. might just head back same day.

heleu 08-08-2013 01:20 PM

My wife is driving up and we're staying at The Coast Blackcomb Suites At Whistler for $135/night (priceline)

Yeah, it's expensive, but its to be expected for that weekend.

azncreationz 08-08-2013 01:46 PM

Staying at the Whistler Cascade Lodge... yep, it's going to be an expensive weekend to book, especially now as it's coming closer to event date.
Hope you don't have to ride back the same day! Although possible, but a shame to miss all the post-ride activities.

kayceeee 08-08-2013 01:55 PM

they do have shuttle service which is 20$, but i kinda want be up there to take it all in,

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a bike frame from a shop in the UK ( I am there right now ). It used to be a demo frame. I looked at it in store and it seemed fine. Once I got home, I noticed a large crack on the chain stay tube.

The shop contacted BMC with pictures, and they said that it is a paint crack rather than a crack in the carbon.

I have the option of returning it and getting a different frame but I really do like this frame.

Just wanted your guys take on this. Should I take the risk?

pics!

My take, I'd return it. How can BMC state it's 'just' a crack in the paint through photos. I would return it and get another frame, don't think I'd like to chance it. If you kept the frame, and it does blow apart when you ride it, what recourse will you have then? They can say, 'we gave you a choice' already. Be on the safe side. My 2 cents.

i think its because if he goes with replacement he isnt getting the same frame. it'll be different model and he really likes his current model.

that being said, id still would risk it. you'll be out of options other than buying a new frame if this one craps out. and how does one figure the damage by just pictures.
