My brother picked me up at Whistler but had to wait for 2 hours to get picked up. At first I told him to pick me up at Squamish cause the plan was to bike to Squamish after Whistler but realized that's a bit too much ride for one day. hahaha. So the 2 hours of wait will have to do.

Sportchek is having a sale on Jamis bikes. Their Ventura Sport is currently $449, which is below cost. What do you guys think of this bike? Good for a beginner?

It's good enough for a beginner, especially at that price point. If you want to just ride around here and there for fitness, it's ok. But if you want to get into something more serious like club rides or fondos, I don't recommend it. Mind you, others may disagree.

I use flashers front and back on my commuter bike to BE SEEN, but they are not bright enough to light up a pitch black street TO SEE if that makes sense

Mec has flashers for cheap

Red flasher on the back, and a removable flashlight I found in Beijing for about 6 bucks which i'm sure blinds everyone in sight! (When not aimed properly). Does the trick when the dark comes out.

Several of us use the MEC Saturn rear light and the MEC Quattro for the front.

The MEC Saturn is good enough (in my opinion) to be seen.

The Quattro, while "good" is only good to be seen as well. I would NOT use this to see in the dark. I'm sure there are other ones out there that are better.

For my commuter, which I ride in pitch black with, I use an e-bay light like this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CREE-Bicycle-XM-L-T6-1600Lum-HeadLamp-Headlight-Bike-Front-Light-/170824026434?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27c5e7c942
Bang for buck they can't be beat. Just don't get them wet..

For taillight I've been using knog lights.

Okay, thanks guys! I am trying to decide whether I just want a flasher for the front or an actual light light...
