About 2 week out from Haleakala, and just completed my biggest ride to date. A little short on the vertical, but I think it's a very similar ride nonetheless. Need more calories, last Cypress repeat was hurting. Bike Ride Profile | 2 Weeks out - Cypress x 3 near Vancouver | Times and Records | Strava |
Great Job. We should do Seymour mtn monday ;) |
I was planning on trying to get in 4 repeats of cypress, but I don't know if i'm up to it. I can't carry enough food with me hahaha. I'd be down for a Seymour, but I have to work in the evening so a morning start would be best... Pending rain of course :p |
Boom. Urban bike stand with TOOLS and a pump :) https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...70892302_n.jpg https://scontent-b-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/...82923561_n.jpg |

^ Thought about doing that. But I still need to get everything to the mountain first haha. I tried starting from the bottom and driving, but my knees killed after minimal warmup. Really this is just excuses because i'm lazy, and i'm pretty sure I almost died on the ride home. Delirious. lol |

Who was it fr this thread that builds a lot of bikes? Was it azncreationz or UFO? You guys have experience with Campagnolo Athena 11spd group? Posted via RS Mobile |
I had a hand in building up a Guru Photon with Campy Record 11-speed once and a bit of maintenance on a Chorus group. Any way, just got back from a ride after the rain. Threw on a base layer, jersey, bib shorts, jacket, arm/leg warmers and shoe covers. Worked well but wish I had gloves haha |
I have over a decade working with mountain bikes, but I'm still relatively new to the whole road bike world, so I have zero experience with Campy. But I imagine upper end Campy would be on par with upper end Shimano and SRAM |
Let's just say that Campy is just Campy. Italian at that. But on a serious note, their groupsets are nice. The EPS stuff is a pain in the ass to setup (compared to Shimano anyway.) Really nice components and shift quality. I like their hoods as they are much more ergonomic compared to Shimano. The Athena 11 speed is not bad and considered the "entry level" of their higher end groups. I have not yet installed an Athena EPS group but a Super Record and Record - :fuckthatshit: Fun fact: It appears 11-speed cassettes are cross compatible right now. |

Looking for spare biking shoes, going to use it on my commuter bike. Size 9.5 (US) and compatible with SPD cleats. Not looking to spend a lot here guys just for daily. Let me know :fullofwin:. |
Any recommendations for wet weather commuting? I went to a few stores locally, but everything seems $$$. Any thoughts on this? wiggle.com | Altura Pocket Rocket Waterproof Cycling Jacket | Cycling Waterproof Jackets I don't ride in downpours, but I have fenders and don't mind a bit of rain. |

Yes, 11 speed is cross-platform compatible. 11 speed campy cassettes work with mavic 9/10 speed freehubs. So no need to switch over if you are already running mavic wheelsets. |
Anyone selling a decent road bike for my friend? She's a 51cm looking to spend around 1k. |

That's awesome! I guess they have finished construction? I ride past there almost everyday but it's at night so I can never tell. The last time I saw "communal tools" was up in whistler. Nice to see it down here too. I don't mind paying Richmond taxes Posted via RS Mobile |
Yea it appeared that the day I took the photos it was some sort of 'grand opening' celebration. They set up massive tents and a stage of some sort Very neat that there's tools and a stand for us I hope they keep the portapotties there :) |
Can you guys help me understand frame geometry?? If I am comparing 2 different bike frames, and all measurements on both frames are the same except for the HEAD TUBE length, would a longer head tube mean a more relaxed fitment? Example: My 2012 Focus Cayo Frame Geometry: Seat Tube Length 520mm Seat Tube Angle 74 Top Tube Length 537mm Head Tube Angle 72 Head Tube Length 115mm Chain Stay 405mm The new frame that I am considering has a Head Tube Length of 135mm. All other measurements are exactly the same. Does that mean that the new frame will have my hands sitting a bit higher, and my posture is taller more relaxed? |
Yeah more or less, but it does depend on how the frame is constructed as well. You can run a negative rise stem to put yourself back to a position closer to either you are currently if you find it's too tall. All things equal, 20mm is quite significant. You can look at the stack and reach numbers to more accurately compare between frames. |
Thanks UFO... I guess I'll have to call to inquire on more info on the frame as reach and stack numbers aren't listed on their geometry PDF... I'm considering a steel frame from Condor All measurements are the same when I compare my Focus Cayo to the Condor Acciaio/Super Acciaio, except for the head tube length. The Acciaio has a head tube length of 145mm while the Super Acciaio has a length of 135mm |
