I think this winter if i can find the time, I'd like to take her apart and rebuild her good as new. I've had it for about 6 years now and it's in still very good shape, but the non-sealed crank bearings have gotten noisy and the cables have finally stretched out enough that its just about time for bare frame resto. Maybe sandblast the frame and powder coat it. It's a iron horse yakuza aniki btw

Went for an early ride with a couple of buddies around Richmond (Iona/Dyke Road and back) and saw a couple of riders doing this event. It was a cold in the beginning, but actually turned out pretty nice. When we saw the signs on the road, just realized there was a local event. I think it was the Ride for Refuge?

Which one did you do (50 or 100 kms)?

Hope you guys made it out for a ride today. I might go out on a limb and say it was the nicest riding day of the year.

Ran for the cure this morning.

3 hours later, went riding from about fraserview area, around false creek, up hornby, through stanley park and up ambleside. perfect day, not to hot. It was cold on the stanley park causeway though with no sun shining through the trees.

quite enjoyable actually hehe
Yeah, I layered up with arm and leg warmers, and then a Craft Featherlight jacket that a friend recommended - definitely about the right temperature because I was quite comfortable. I took off the jacket when it got a bit sunnier and warmer, but my hips/crotch area and feet were cold because I only had one layer over those areas!

The day turned out awesome! I was worried about showers but it turned out super nice. I did the 100KM (which is two laps of 50km), the second time around some of the signs got pulled early and I missed a turn, ended up near Silvercity Riverport and then rode across to Ironwood Plaza, got stuck in construction! The road grinding at Williams and No. 4 didn't help either, the tarmac smell was overpowering and I had my own mini Paris-Roubaix on the grooved road lol. I imagine that's what it feels like riding on cobbles - I was definitely tingling and numb by the end of it!

I wasn't super fast, I took too long of a break in the middle which made me stiffer. Cramped up on the second lap, not enough warm-up and fluids? Here's my Strava ride record if anyone is interested.

All have GPS tracking

500 - no map feature, has cadence, speed, temp, laps, heart rate
510 - same as 500, but has live tracking capability (ur friends can track you live via a website - how fast ur going, where u are etc)
800 - same as 500, but supports map navigation
810 - same as 800, but has live tracking capability

[edit]
don't bother with 800/810 unless you do randonneuring sportive rides where u need to navigate areas where you are unfamiliar. I've used an 810 before, and not once did i need to look down to see where I was on a map...

buy it if you're horrible with directions and get lost a lot. otherwise, it's a waste to have navigation.

on my 510 u can preset a bread crumb map if you REALLY wanted to do some type of pre-determined navigation.

Any of you guys ride fixed gears? I'm thinking of picking up a fun little weekend road bike so I don't have to ride my heavy DH bike everywhere. One local one is just becoming me but I don't want to rush into spending the $800

^That's how it starts. I ride my MTB way less now because riding on the road is so much faster, so much easier to access, and I feel like I get way more out of the time I spend doing it. It's still fun to get on the trails, but 30-45min drive to get to the trails, couple hours ride, then another 30-45min drive to get home...Harder to devote that huge chunk of time for just a couple hours riding time. If I spend 3 hrs on the road bike that entire amount of time is spent riding and I get a way better overall workout

Unloading another frame...
2009 Traitor Cycles Luggernaut. Yes, it's a steel Lugged single-speed frame with track drop outs. 53cm. No front brake provision on fork, yet there's eyelets for rack or fenders in the rear.
Any takers, before it goes to fleabay, or I change my mind and build it up.
Looks like this, but just the frame and fork. (They obviously drilled the fork or used a different fork in the photo)

Riding around the gate was the initial plan. Until we drove the route and found it takes three rangers to man the gate. I wonder how many it takes to run the park? No wonder they are having money issues. I've got another week here, so hopefully they figure their shit out. The climb is daunting though, and I'm sure the excess booze, and horrible diet is not going to help the cause. Haha
