Just got a follow up email about the Bici ride from last night... Apparently we had 120 riders last night... LOL. I guess that is accurate. I think there were at least 4-5 different groups with 20-30 riders each.

Yeah that seems about right. Good to see a great cycling community here in Van. Great ride.

Who is going again next Tuesday?

The Tuesday Bici ride is very casual. It's more just a time for socializing bro, no extreme cardio required lol. They split us up in groups of Fast, Medium, Slow, Beginners, and Womens... something along those lines. Plus ur a strong rider anyways.

The Bici groups will do 3 laps of stanley park, no dropping riders and no passing the ambassador until the foot of Prospect Point Climb. After the climb, we all group up at the top, and descend down together. Rinse and repeat.

I've ridden with a handful of the RS guys here, and I think bc we are all unfamiliar with each others riding experience, that we all get kinda scared of riding with each other... Generally it's because no ones really determines a pace and shit just gets turnt up like crazy really fast LOL... And i can say i've done my fair share of turnin it up hahah.

But yea. if u want a no pressure group, definitely do the tuesday ride. and theres a decent amount of females.

I'd be down to ride with you guys, but softball season has just started for me. Gonna be tough to get much riding in, except to and from work. :failed:
I did a couple of triathlons over the weekend, and my bike times were slower than last year. Soooo depressing!

roastpuff 04-30-2014 05:50 PM

Went on my first ride on the MTB. Cloudy in the morning, threatened to rain... but the sun came through! I passed probation too, so good day all around.

LOL. I wish I was! But yes, I did race a tri on Saturday (Delta Triathlon), and did another one on Sunday (Creek Classic Triathlon). I don't advise it, but yeah, my friends were asking me if I ran the Sun Run and I'm like uh...no.
But seriously, if I can do it, ANYONE can do it. The amazing thing was, I podium'ed in my age group on Sunday! Unbelievable!
If any of you want to go swim or run (to cross train for your biking?), let me know.

dat_steve 05-01-2014 10:29 AM

i wish i knew how to swim (properly). i can't coordinate my breathing properly and end up sucking in water and floundering lol

just done my 2nd wheel 2 heal!

started out in pouring rain and midway made a noob mistake and crossed a set of train tracks which went diagonally rather than at 90 degree and my front wheel got caught in the track and i wiped out and banged my chin. otherwise not bad i guess for the 3rd ride of the year lol. never seeen my bike so dirty :heckno:

**Btw. Everyone be careful out there riding in groups or riding by yourself. Always be alert.

Just after exiting Stanley Park after my Whytecliff ride, on Beach ave there was an accident. As I was passing by I see an older guy cyclist on the ground with blood everywhere. There were 5 other cyclist there that Im assuming theyre all together. I stopped to ask if they've called 911 already. They did so I just went on my way.

Get faster and stronger but always safety first. Stay alert.

Definitely need to be careful going over those. Friend's girlfriend did that last summer and completely bailed. It was a very painful lesson for her.
