Quit riding my hardtail I had for park and dirt jumps a while ago and sold it for pretty cheap to someone I used to work with as it was just collecting dust, regretting it now...

I am thinking about buying another after reading through this thread and PB

Good for you doing this ride. Hope your okay though with your fall. I know how that feels on the train tracks.

What's the route btw? Looks like a nice ride, plus for charity. Wouldn't mind looking into this for next year.

kayceeee 05-03-2014 11:33 PM

^ yea im doing alright just bruises all over but i'll be alright. learned my lesson

as far as the ride it starts out at coquitlam town center across douglas, then across pitt bridge, thru some farm roads, then over the golden ears then it keeps going to fort langley, pretty much all paved road, some real small rolling hills, just one climb near the midpoint at armstrong street, or as some refer to the lance armstrong climb. its a pretty good ride, mostly flat, other than today where the weather wasnt cooperating, but its enjoyable. few stops with water and snacks and bananas etc.

yea the charity fundraising is a bonus, the ride was what originally why i signed up last year, but this year i put a bit more focus on actually trying to fundraise.

check it out

PHATFLIP_14 or anyone else for that matter, if you're looking for another charity ride, there's one on June 22, Ride Don't Hide, which supports family mental health.
I rode this one last year, and it was pretty fun, so we signed up again this year.
Obviously, it's a ride, but quite a few roadies signed up and 'raced' it.
Ride Don't Hide
Starts at Swangard Stadium in Central Park, and then follows bike routes out to Steveston and back (if doing the 60k). When I signed up a while ago, it was $30, and comes with a tech shirt.

Have any of you guys bought replica jerseys from aliexpress before? I'm just wondering what the sizing is like and what the quality is like?

TIA

I know bcrdukes & 604CEFIRO have

bcrdukes 05-05-2014 08:36 PM

Sizing - trust the sizing chart. If in doubt, measure yourself first.

Quality - You get what you pay for, I guess. They're okay if you want to bomb around the city on a 1 - 2 hour ride. Any more, it doesn't breath very well and it gets pretty hot. Otherwise, it does the job. None of them have failed me (yet.) :hotbaby:

604CEFIRO 05-05-2014 08:54 PM

Aliexpress is great.

In terms of fit, yea follow the guides.

The cut didn't fit me very well that's why I don't wear them much. Not the most technical fabrics so you get hot and sweaty easily.

The term you get what you pay for applies.

Hard to beat $30 shipped for bibs and jersey lol

If you want inexpensive but good gear try DHB at wiggle.com

henry604 05-05-2014 09:26 PM

Cool.. thanks guys..

604CEFIRO 05-05-2014 09:36 PM

Try this - Cycling Metro Vancouver - Cycling Route Planner

dat_steve 05-08-2014 01:01 PM

in vancouver, most of the main arteries (granville, oak, cambie, broadway) will have bike routes on the next street over.

https://bikehub.ca/get-involved/usef...route-planning

and Bike to Work Week is coming up, visit any of their commuter stations, and you can pick up a fold out pocket sized map which shows all the bike routes.

Pretty neat. Orica green edge won the first stage TTT in the giro with langleys svein tuft leading the team in taking in the overall leaders pink jersey

That is so bizarre. Note to all you cyclists out there: don't wear earphones when riding, please. As a matter of fact, when you're driving, on a motorcycle, or anything else that can kill a person, don't wear earphones.

dat_steve 05-12-2014 06:37 PM

lions gate is pretty sketch going northbound at speed

dat_steve 05-14-2014 10:35 AM

gonna be hitting up stanely park after work around 5/530. probably going to miss the bicicletta group ride. but if anyone wants to do an extra loop before, i'll be arouuund

oh and i'll be rocking my training weights (aka backpack full of work clothes and shoes lolol)

and it looks like i've put on some poundage since last season (the good kind lol) so my super lightweight rapha jersey doesn't really fit me anymore. Anyone interested in picking it up for cheap let me know. White/black size small. for reference i was about 5'7 140 when it fit me. i'm 158-160ish now soaking wet

604CEFIRO 05-14-2014 04:14 PM

The Bicicletta ride was actually yesterday. The rides are always on Tuesday night starts at 6:30

kayceeee 05-14-2014 04:19 PM

Will routley of whistler just own stage four of the Amgen tour of California and also wearing the KOM jersey
