That's a lot of cash to fund raise. Fellow at work was doing rides home to Abby 70k+ for donations. I thought that was a good tactic.

Props to you! :woot2:

Thanks bud, if anyone wants to help me donate to the cause, my rider page is here:

The Ride to Conquer Cancer presented by Silver Wheaton benefiting BC Cancer Foundation: Mr. Jonathan Leung - The Ride to Conquer Cancer

I got carved by a few people in my other thread in the offtopic chat :(

http://www.revscene.net/forums/69493...ml#post8465719

Despite getting carved, from a fellow Revscene member, I still have to thank the Revscene community for the support they've shown me through out the years.

I'm committed, and I'm fine making up the difference if I don't meet the 2500 minimum, I'm doing this to help others and invoke hope for those who have cancer. If anyone is going on the long ride, let me know because I'm going this one alone without a team so it'd be good to get a riding buddy :)

Any fixie riders can recommend a local shop that sells fixie bikes and parts?

I need a lock ring and cog for my fixed gear side.

Also, looking for a size 43cm micro 650c, or 47cm fixie for my GF

I've called bici, strada, union cycle, bsp, west point, UBC fix gear, dunbar bikes, bike doctor. No one carries sizes 47cm or smaller.

The only place i've found such sizes is online... Pure Fix Cycles | Fixed gear bikes for only $325

Difficult to buy a bike w/o standing over it...

azncreationz 06-14-2014 05:46 PM

You can try Super Champion, Mighty Riders or Dream Cycle, as they cater more towards the hipsters.

azncreationz 06-14-2014 05:49 PM

Anyone go to Bike Fest today, besides me? Gear Swap was good, except I got there a bit late so had to wait in line. Lots of excellent deals! Best deal I saw was the Thule 3 bike carrier for $15! Regular price on that is over $200.

604CEFIRO 06-14-2014 06:58 PM

Swapped out my bars for track bars. Flipped to fixed gear side with 46 chainring and 17t cog. Took off of the sram force brake

Gf got a size 43cm fixie with 650c wheels from Ride On

I put my pannier rack on her bike.

Rode down to Seattle for the Ride to Conquer Cancer!

First day was wet and gross but everyone was full of energy

http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...614_094145.jpg

First pitstop for a water refill

http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...614_132229.jpg

http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...614_132231.jpg

With the rain, the camp site was nasty and muddy.

Assessing the wounds after wiping out because of a raised ridge on the side of the road between km 85-90. My tire bit it and I high-sided. One guy bit it the same place I did and had to be taken by ambulance. I kept going with a bandaid on my bleeding pinky.

http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...615_115849.jpg

The finish line at Redmond Park. I was 10th or 11th across the finish. Sprinted through it and finished just before noon.

http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...615_115905.jpg

Tired as fuck.

http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...615_210707.jpg

http://i1161.photobucket.com/albums/...615_210720.jpg

The aftermath. Dérailleurs and drive line took a pretty bad beating in the rain. Pedals bit the concrete and handlebar wraps are chewed up. All in all, I took four stops. First was a refill, second was to get bandaged up, and two lunch breaks. I skipped all the other stops and went straight for the finish.

lowpao 06-17-2014 10:23 PM

Anyone interested in riding fixed in Richmond late nights sporadically during the week?

lowpao 06-18-2014 05:39 AM

The daily driver....

604CEFIRO 06-18-2014 09:54 AM

dat_steve & lowpao: Yea bro, I'd be down, but I have to put in some time riding this thing. It's pretty different riding fixed w/ no brakes.

I thought I had developed decent legs over the last 2 season, apparently I'm wrong b/c this fixie makes my thighs SCREAM.

My first day out with two buddies I was trying to learn skidstops wearing shitty slip on shoes and stop straps.. while my buddy is doing it with cycling shoes and keo pedals. Afterwards my thighs felt like sausages trying to bust out of sausage casings!

And I have to figure out my riding position if i wanna do a real ride. Right now with the pista bars, it's purely for stuntin' around steveston lol. It's way too uncomfortable.

I'm on pursuit bars now, carbon fork painted, and stem as low as it can go....To me it's comfy with a 10km commute one way to work. Plus me and a couple friends bomb around richmond 2-3 times a week with 35-40kms circle late night at 10pm or so.

We are all formal road bikers, and my brother, who started this thread, got me to ride fixed. What a humbling experience. But it has made me a stronger rider, and brought me back to where my athleticism used to be. Now just working on getting back the body shape I used to be. LOL that will take some time.

If your down, we are riding Thursday night this week at 11pm til 1am or around there. I leave from Blundell and Garden City and meet a buddy down on Bridgeport and 5 rd.

If anyone wants to join in, it's definitely more enjoyable to ride with a group.

604CEFIRO 06-18-2014 11:38 AM

Has anyone spotted a coupon code for this years RBC GranFondo??

dat_steve 06-18-2014 12:50 PM

I tried the trackbar thing and I just could get comfy climbing without hoods so now i'm just on horns

i'm down for evening rides! still fighting mad jetlag right now so it's a struggle to stay up past 9 haha downtown is super fun late at night too

lowpao 06-18-2014 01:16 PM

That's it, that's all. It's the way it will be for the summer.

ZN6 06-18-2014 01:42 PM

Now I want a fixie.

604CEFIRO 06-18-2014 03:05 PM

I hope that's a tall boy sitting in that saddle bag, cuz that things like a backpack! lol
