A long shot, but does anyone have a ~100mm stem laying around I could borrow for a week? I stripped a bolt on my damn stem last night

I've got a bunch of stems of various lengths lying around, but I think BCRDukes has you covered.
Yeah, Giro Di Burnaby tonight was pretty good! No Lambo crashes at least. (Lambo was the sweep car, Ferrari 318 was pace car). Women's race was pretty exciting, especially when a 46 year old won a prime lap...and then a 15 year old won another prime lap! And amazingly, she hung onto the peloton to finish. Some future talent right there...

Yes! bcrdukes to the rescue, he's lent me a stem to get me up and running. Thanks for the offer though.

I swung by to see the women's race on the way home as well to watch a friend, but looks like she didn't end up starting. Didn't stick around for the men's race.

FS - 2013 Specialized LANGSTER PRO - STEALTH BLACK - Mint Condition

been eying this for a while. What is RS's thoughts? It looks damn nice but dunno if I'd want to use it for the street. But then if the guy is selling for 975, it's only slightly more expensive than the Langster street.

Hey guys,

Looking to get a bike for just cruising with friends and cycling around town a bit. I don't know much about them just yet, and don't want to spend too much. Riding bikes in Europe for 5 weeks made me want to pick one up back at home though!

I spotted this on CL and was wondering if it was worth the price? Any words of advice would be great.

70's NIKISHI SINGLE SPEED !!$280!!

That's a pretty old bike, and it's quite the Franken-bike with the mish-mash of parts. I think for that price, you could pick up something newer. Are you set on getting a single-speed?

kristianhay 07-13-2014 08:56 AM

Thanks man, good info to know. Yeah I pretty much wanted to get a single-speed/fix just for something as low maintenance and cost as possible.

kristianhay 07-13-2014 08:20 PM

Thanks for the advice for holding out azncreationz, I found a year old Raleigh Back Alley for $275 today and jumped on that right away! Already having a blast riding.

I'm looking for a bike that I can commute, do light trails, and take down to the seawall.
I really like the Specialized Secteur Sport Disc model. When I went into one of the bike shops to inquire, they agreed that this bike can do all of that. I'm a little concerned though that the tires could pop if I decide to take it through Central park or Dear lake if I were to hit a small jump and rock areas.

What do you guys think?

Looking for a bike to commute (along the dyke) in Richmond, around UBC, and maybe ride a bit of Pacific Spirit Park. I was thinking of getting a SSCX bike but am not really married to the idea. Been looking at cheaper ($400ish) models on bikes direct and nashbar but I also want to check out some shops first because they'll help me figure out what size I'd need (70.5 inches tall with long arms but 29 inseam when measuring for bikes). Suggestions for shop?

I think you'll be fine taking that bike through Central Park. If you are concerned, then slap on some more puncture proof tires (ie: Bontrager Hard Case Lite, Schwalbe Marathons, Conti Gatorskins, etc) . I ride through Central Park often as it's on my commute to work, and have had no problems on my road bike.

Hard to say, since every bike manufacturer has different geometry on their bikes. You can narrow down your size of course. Bike shops? Tons of them around, but if you head to West Broadway, then you can hit up MEC, Bike Doctor, La Bicicletta, Different Bikes, Dunbar Cycles, etc all within a couple block radius.
Or here's a complete list of bike shops around town.

Definitely not my cup of tea. It looks like you need to pledge at least $400 to receive a bike? What is the after-service like, should you have any problems? It says 'super comfy saddle', but as we all know, that's really a personal preference. I guess if you're just looking for something to go around the seawall, then this would be alright, as it's only got a 3 speed internal hub. And hmm, a coaster brake?!
If you're set on getting a belt-driven bike, a couple other options from a reputable bike company, are Trek District or Trek Soho.

bcrdukes 07-15-2014 10:12 PM

Do not want.

Doesn't look like you can get any serious cycling done with this thing. Looks like it's for people who walk their bikes up the tiniest of hills and who go no more than 10kph and don't get out of your way while hogging the middle of the lane, completely oblivious to their surroundings.

I got one in 31.8 or 26.0. But if you have one already, all good.

Is anyone looking to buy a jersey any time soon?

I need to get a pair of bibshorts

Rapha has a pro team bundle for the jersey and bibs.

Rapha

If someone wants in on the Jersey, it will cost you $201 including tax and delivery. Regular price is $280 tax in.
