Some hubs can and cannot be repaired. Depends on make/model and ultimately, time/labour/cost variables. Bring it to a reputable shop. Definitely not Pacific Multisport :troll:

oh dang... I did not see this post in time. I just bought a pair of Schwalbe Marathon Racer HS 366's yesterday. Night and day difference between the cyclocross 35c's that were on originally and the 28's I put on yesterday.

HAH! maybe I should take it to them on a day they aren't PMS'ing. you see what I did there? Hahahahha lame.

Well, i'll take it to an LBS, see what they can do. 3 blocks into today's commute and something snapped and the hub didn't sound correct anymore.

Ah man. I commute everyday and i see at least couple every week doing track stands on stop lights. i just stay behind them and not bother cause i know i can't do it for long. specially when the light just turned red for us.

I'd only ever attempt if I wasn't riding with cleats.

thats very, very unfortunate. I was actually on my way to Iona beach and was going to use that route but the road was closed. That could have been me

I just read about that one the bike was stopped and was hit from what I read. No way she could have avoided it.

$25 for the entire kit is not bad, but locally...I would suggest going to Mighty Riders, or head to OCB and see what you can find there.

Picked this up last week as my beat around bike. Currently fixed. Don't think I'm taking off the hand brakes lol. Almost flew off doing a skid stop.

ZN6 08-06-2014 03:19 PM

Will probably upgrade the apex brakes on my other bike and dump those apex calipers onto the langster and junk the tektros.

604CEFIRO 08-06-2014 04:51 PM

If u decide to go brake less i don't mind picking up your levers and brakes

I wish I were that brave. Probably going to upgrade the roubaix with new brakes then trickle the apex brakes down to the langster. If you want the tektros when I take them off I'll let you know. Probably upgrade to Ultegra 6800 groupset next year when the new ultegra mech stuff comes out.

You could probably have our community bikes on main piece together something quite cheap

Got some Fyxation Rodeo Pursuit bars on today, and removed the rear brake. This weather we've been having is amazing!

Damn, son! :ahwow:

604CEFIRO 08-10-2014 01:10 PM

Thanks bro. It's tough doing it solo. Going to Squamish wasn't bad. Coming back was a challenge cuz there was a head wind the whole way. I also got a flat 10km after leaving Squamish... was interesting being on the side of the Sea to Sky highway roasting in the sun changing a tube and patching the damaged one!

Every rider that passed by offered help which was nice to see!

At around the 130km I definitely hit a mental and physical wall but was able to push through to get home.

I think it was because I didn't prepare enough food. With longer distances like that, REAL food is important. I'll probably make stuffed rice cakes or something next time and home made bars and dried fruit. Gels and protein bars aren't good enough

Richmond to Squamish and Back. 184km Solo mish

I believe the cycling bug has caught on to me... Still lots to know about but I enjoy learning about the componentry of a bike and factors/techniques to improve ones riding-- I am dumbfounded by the complexity of this all when it seemed so simple as a kid.

I picked up an aluminum frame cross bike about two weeks ago and since then I've put close to 400kms on it (probably not a lot by the standards of people in this forum). I like the bike and I hope that its just not my impulsive nature talking but lately I've been finding myself browsing around looking deals to upgrade my current ride, a full carbon bike to be specific. Need your input if this is worth pulling the trigger. Thanks in advance

It's a custom built bike from the Fuji Altimira Limited Team edition frameset;

Frame: D6 high modulus carbon
Rear triangle: D6 high modulus carbon
Fork: FC-330 carbon monocoque
Shimano 105-5700 groupset
Bontrager Carbon Bar
Carbon 3T saddle, Bontrager Carbon Stem, Ritchey seat with carbon rails
DT Swiss RR 1850 wheels

$1300

Had the toe clips on then realized i hate them so i took them off after almost flying off. Too used to clipless.

Fun ride but a lot of people hate the langster mostly due to the sloping top tube and cheesey city themed langsters.
