Yesterday's horseshoe bay ride with my club

Music track is lame and 2 min short cuz I had to remove the copy written music I had on there and replace it with a youtube track. Hopefully I'll get the next one right!

This GoPro stuff is fun! Lol

Did you guys get some nice Christmas/Boxing day goodies?

I picked up a Scott Solace a few weeks earlier on an amazing deal. It's a pretty awesome garage queen right now with my no time to ride

Didn't really get anything exciting except for the GoPro Hero4 and a K-edge garmin/gopro out front combo mount for the bike.

There's a lot of great deals happening... for anyone looking for rapha gear, they're having their 50% off sale right now. Still decent sizes in a lot of things... (Notable mentions: hardshell jacket, transfer jacket/gilet, winter jersey, winter bibs, thermal bib shorts, GT shoes, ton of jerseys).

Looks like Strava is following in Facebooks footsteps with their 'year at a glance' summary videos!

Got an email today and they put together your ride summary for 2014:

$175, pricey but I'd been eyeing it for a while. Will gets some pics after I get the other stuff in and on the bike.

Picked up an Ultegra (6800) Front/Rear Calliper Set from Wiggle, $110.

Also picked up this sick bell that I'd been eyeing for a while $30 USD shipped, goes for $60 USD shipped usually, which is way too much. Should be useful for all the noobs on the bikeways.

If you so desire these hipsters will tell you all about their bell.

Will, nice rides and gopro videos. How do you do the Garmin Overlay on your GoPro videos? Is it a program?

Ribble's groupset sale is supppper tempting for the 105 5800 @ $408. Unfortunately I'm putting a higher priority on a new commuter/touring build I just started. Was a complete bitch to get it to this point. So many rusted/seized parts and still lots to do to get it to working condition.

Does anyone have a Fluid Trainer they'd like to get rid of?

Kurt Kinetic or Cycleops preferred.

Thanks!

^ There is one for sale on BC Bicycle Classifieds on facebook.

Today's training ride with my club (Escape Velocity). Some standing climbs at ubc, pacelines at iona, and then me smashing a massive pothole cuz teammates didn't call it out = pinch-flat

Does anyone know how I can add music to a video without youtube flagging copyright on the song?

No real way around Content ID, at one time you could adjust the pitch slightly and get around it but now that no longer works.

The indie or smaller labels usually have policies set that flag (registering that they own it) but not block content with their music as they recognize the promotional aspect; however the traditional media conglomerates will usually auto block anything with the music they own.

TL;DR: Use indie music.

I find that if I don't click on and acknowledge the link that says "identified 3rd party content" or whatever, the video remains accessible on mobile devices. That's all I'm concerned with. I just don't want youtube to ban my account bc of my ride videos lol!

hey 604, you seem like a Rapha expert. I am eyeing on the hardshell on sale as I am starting to commute to work and want something that will work well, feel good and look good.

How is the sizing compared to other cycling brands like Castelli and Pearl Izumi?

Best thing to do is follow their sizing guide.

Or, buy it in two sizes and return the one that doesn't fit. They provide free door to door refunds via DHL.

If I were u, I'd buy two and try it on with the gear u currently have, and try it on dressed in your deep winter mode. The hardshell needs to fit over your layers... No size guide will be able to tell u that.

[edit]
I'm sure you already know, but the hardshell is for winter/deep winter. Anything above 3-5* degrees would probably be too warm. Perfect for Dec, Jan, Feb, and maybe March. But you won't find much use out of it for the other months, that's why I didn't buy one myself. That's one thing you'll find with Rapha, they are very temperature range specific, but work soooo well for what it's made for. You won't be disappointed with the jacket, especially with the sale price of $295...

One jacket that I definitely would recommend is Showers Pass Elite 2.0 ( http://www.mec.ca/product/5029-823/s...showers%2Bpass )

I've owned one for 3 years now, great for commuting. It's not as stylish, but works in deep winter (freezing) conditions, as well as in the low 'teens... (11-13 degrees). For me at least... It has full length pit zips, so that when it rains but it's also warm, you can unzip both sides of your armpits, and the air cools you down so you won't boil like a bag. The rapha one does not have it, it's designed for winter/deep winter only.

Thanks for the tips. I will do more browsing around.

Etxeondo Lasai Jacket (Men's) - Mountain Equipment Co-op. Free Shipping Available I have this currently and a Castelli gilet for my windy/rainy rides. But for days like today where is a down pour, both items dont keep me 100% dry.

I did however, just get the rapha transfer jacket (impulse buy)

I have the transfer gilet, great piece for casual wear, very warm.

I want to get the transfer jacket too. It's definitely not for riding... just for looking fancy. (What size are you? If medium, and the jacket doesn't work out for you, i may be tempted to buy it from u )

How long is your commute?

I got a large. so hopefully it will be a fitted look.

Commute is about 13km with about only 100m elevation gain total. So honestly, i think I will just stick with my etxenondo rain jacket for now and just suck it up when it rains heavy.

Picked up a Fulcrum Quattro wheelset for $340 with Vredestein Fortezzo Senso All Weather Superlite's. Came with 3 Vittoria tubes which were unfortunately 42mm stems, no idea why Ribble had packed 42mm stems as a set with 35mm deep wheels.

Was a bit annoying, hopefully I can get them to send me some 60mm stemmed tubes as spares, not worth it to ship back those 42mm tubes.

About 500g of weight savings over my stock wheelset. Pics soon.

God damnit. Watching your heart rate on here makes me feel like a lazy bum. Goal for this year is to actually get out on my bike this year and ride. Last summer was a let down.
