^ Are those the quattros? If so they're Campy's equivalent of Scirocco 35s. Friends have them both, smooth hubs and relatively aero and stiff. Only down side is that they're ~1750g

Yeah, I was gonna buy either the Scirocco 35's or these Quattro's. I read they are pretty much the same wheel, with the Scirocco's being $30 cheaper. Ended up with the Quattro's because one of the reviews said the hubs were better (steel and sealed) than the Scirocco's. Ribble had 10% off coupon so I got these for ~$260.

My food scale shows that these weigh in at 1815g's.

I've found the 35mm wheels offer a smoother, more planted ride compared to 25mm. Mind you, I'm running HED Ardennes+ on a custom build and Shimano Ultegra hubs. Tires are Michelin Pro4.

As a side note, I do like Campagnolo/Fulcrum wheels. Their products are well made, but I can't speak for their end-of-life service/repair (probably $$$ as with anything Italian.)

Just curious, when it shipped to you did it come Canada Post or was it DHL?

I'm looking at these wheels too and wiggle has them for $321.xx (free shipping) and ribble has them for $326 after discount and $56 shipping cost.

One of the reviews on wiggle said that they used DHL to ship and I want to try to avoid DHL if at all possible.

I bought these wheels in January from ribble, they shipped via parcel force (Royal Mail subsidiary, so handed over to Canada Post). Shipped on January 5th in UK, received same week on January 9, IIRC no duties or tax collected.

My experience was the same. Canada Post and the shipping was relatively fast.

The Fulcrums Quattro's are $299.93 on Ribble. Use the 10% off code DISC10 which expires on Jun 9th. The website says shipping to Canada for wheels is $56, but my shipping was free. I ordered the wheels and a 6800 cassette together. I just tried it just now and it tacks on $56 for shipping, which kinda kills the deal. No idea how I managed to get free shipping, unless there was some promotion.

Just paid $30 yesterday evening in "taxes" on drop bars and bartape, basically in the end I'm back to local prices, although locally I couldn't find said bars in my size.

+1 on investing into a quality pair of shorts. It can make a big difference. I recently invested in a higher end pair after much deliberation. I looked at Castelli Free Aero Race/Body paint, Gore Xenon's, Rapha classics, assos, extetonde (or however you spell it). Decided to go with the Gore xenon's which are very good.

FWIW, I find buying local for "contact point" items worthwhile. To share my experience with On The Rivet and Sugoi recently, I was given an xmas gift of some relatively nice Sugoi bib shorts. I didn't wear them that much since they were a "summer" pair. Upon wearing them over the last month, I noticed I would get discomfort on longer 3+ hour rides. I found it strange since I have a few of their bibs and never had that problem. I brought it back, they contacted Sugoi and got a new warrantied pair on the spot. While their prices are a little bit higher, I don't mind shopping there knowing they stand behind their products and will make sure you're happy with them.


Also a heads up...Sugoi Factory sale has moved from fall to June. It's happening on the weekend of June 19th, and rumour has it that this will be the very last factory sale.

That's awesome you got a new pair through warranty! I got a new pair of gloves from them, because I posted a photo of my old Sugoi gloves that I totally wore through in 2 rides, on their Facebook page. I commented something like, 'I hope Sugoi's new gloves don't fall apart so fast', and yep, they sent me a new pair. :hotbaby: So far so good on the new pair.
I like bib my bib shorts, but in this hot weather, I find myself going with just bike shorts. I just don't like having to take my jersey off and then the shoulder straps off to pee. I'm sure you can all relate! hahaha. Someone invent a fly on bib shorts!

On another note, anyone have a 31.8mm stem, with 6 or 7 degree rise, 90-100mm that they're not using? Preferably in white. Willing to sell or trade for something? Let me know please! TIA.

Alright, I guess I better go see what the big deal it is with bib shorts. I wear cargo shorts when I ride my road bike and have recently switched to using bike shorts with the padding. Found the change pretty significant, though I still occasional use cargo shorts because I need the pockets.

For me, I found that anything over an hour I felt a lot better in bib shorts vs. bike shorts.

Bike shorts are convenient, so it's perfect for my work commute ( <15km and quick to get on and off)

Bib shorts for everything else. They are more comfortable, no tight seam at the waist, held up b/c of the shoulder straps, compression fit.

Not all bibs fit the same, some provide more or less compression, fit, pad variance, etc.

As for pockets, all road cycling jerseys will have 2-3 rear pockets on the back, some with a zip pocket for keys/valuables.

It's weird to get lycra'd up the first time, but afterwards you'll find folks riding road bikes not in a kit kinda odd :)
