Does anyone have any tips on installing a front derailleur? I've watched many How to videos online. I am trying to replace the front derailleur on my hybrid bike. It's a SRAM X9 3x 9 speed. All the videos say the front derailleur height should be 1-3mm from the large chain ring. Well, the best I can do is around 5-6mm. At 1-3mm, the middle chain ring will rub against the derailleur cage. I've been trying to fool with this for over 2hrs. I gave up, left it at 5-6mm height and it seems to shift well. |

From my understanding, triple chain rings and FD's can't follow the "1-3mm" recommendation for that exact same reason. If it shifts fine now I'd keep it at that height. |
Parents with kids under 3 years old. Do you prefer child seats or trailers for bike paths and flat, groomed trails? Suggestions or insight please. |

That's exactly where I was looking for good, used ones and PoCo trail is where I'd mostly be riding. |
anyone selling a cheap bike? just want a hybrid or cheap road bike to kick around this summer. up to $400 if its fairly nice, but kind of hoping for half assed decent for $200 haha. man people on cl ask whatever they feel like for used bikes, check this one out: Unique Vintage Cannondale Road Bike Size 54 cm - Excellent Condition 25yo bike, $700 |
^ that's my bike I'm selling! JK! You want a cheap bike? I've got a few for sale. PM what your size is, etc. Or come over and take a look, I'm in east Vancouver. |
lol that's a pretty nice vintage Crackendale! :D |
Posting for a friend Stolen bike: My beloved Niner RLT commuter was stolen today from Granville Island off the back of our car. It's probably headed to the downtown eastside, but you never know. If anyone sees it, please get a hold of me or call the Vancouver Police. I will be offering a reward. There aren't many of them kicking around in Vancouver, so it would be an easy spot. Looks exactly like the picture above with Yellow Time Atac pedals and an Angry Orchard bottle cap as the top cap. Spoiler! |
I'll keep my eyes out. Should be easy to spot. |
that chainring is cute - 1x10??? |
so shitty, that Niner is sweet too. I'll keep a lookout. Unit: I have a cheap hybrid I haven't gotten around to selling. PM incoming. |
Alright I've officially outgrown my Rapha classic jersey (black, S) so if anyone is looking for one on the cheap LMK. Too bad they don't have a replacement policy for increasing in size :okay: |

On the same topic, besides my long story of recovering my co-worker's stolen bike, I recovered yet another stolen bike last week, through craigslist! Not as dramatic as my 1st story, but glad to re-unite another bike to its rightful owner. Not to sh*t on your friend losing his bike, but I think we should all learn from this, & take that extra step to try to prevent theft. If leaving your bike on the rear rack of your car, at the very least, remove the front wheel and/or saddle (if quick release) and put them inside the vehicle. Or throw a u-lock onto the rear wheel and frame, etc. Yes, the bike still may get stolen, but at least the thief wouldn't be able to ride away so easily. |
will, is that you that sell the 2012 cervelo s2 on cl? what are you getting? |
Hey aalex, yea that's mine :) 2012 Production Year Cervelo S2 w/ SRAM Red - Like New I just threw it up online to see if there is any interest. I'm kind of "half serious" only lol. I've been considering a current year BMC or Cervelo, going with another aero frame like the Timemachine or S3 / S5. |
1 Attachment(s) I am the one message you at cervelo forum before this is my s2 |
Did u end up keeping your 303s? |
I sold it, I have 303 front and 404 at rear now |
2016 will be an interesting year for aero frames. Couple new ones to consider New Madone 9: http://cdn.velonews.competitor.com/f...88-660x440.jpg and new Venge: http://cdn.mos.bikeradar.imdserve.co...nl-1400-80.jpg I have to admit that at first I thought the venge was hella ugly, but its definitely growing on me in that ugly/funky kind of way. Plus Cav rides a super tiny size so the proportions may look weird. |
not looking to buy this bike but just as an example, why do so many vintage road bikes have weird angled stems and bars? is it just because the owners did what they had to in order to make it fit? NISHIKI "ALLOUETTE" HYBRID MEN'S ROAD BIKE. |
