Lol i feel like such a noob. For commuting, I just use cheap stuff bought on amazon. Knockoff cgecko stuff
At the very least, it's better than a t-shirt.

I don't wear anything fancy to commute either... I use wiggles house brand DHB or Funkier from CRC... inexpensive stuff that's easy to get on and off quick and stuff i don't care much about.
Save the blingy kits for the weekend |

Lol, yeah I figure my daily commuting wear/ware is just gonna be throw around stuff. I just take my riding jersey into the shower with me and wash it. Dries up in about 4 hours which is nice. Pretty fresh for the grind home.
Soon, I'll be riding up number 3 road through to downtown for work up cambie.

| ZN6: I'm assuming you live in Richmond? And you need to get downtown? I guess depending on where you live in Richmond, a safer route to get into downtown would probably be Garden City North up to the Casino, then take the Canadaline Bridge, and ride north up Cambie Street all the way into downtown. It's 100% bike lanes that way.
As for the fixie, nice bike but pricey. pretty sure MSRP was well over $1700, but I wouldn't buy a track bike unless I'm riding track. I have a State Bicycle steel frame fixie for when I putz around in Steveston and for my commute ride to work within Richmond (< 15km).
You should maybe check out State Bicycle: Single Speed Bikes, Fixed Gear Bikes, City Bikes & more they have some nice stuff for fair price. Ship it to Blaine WA...

I'm a medium in rapha pro team, and can squeeze into small classics.
Blacksheep's sizing guide says that I'm a small in their line. So measure yourself accordingly.
From experience, I think the only 'negative' I can see about their bibs is the elastic cuff at the bottom of the thigh opening. Their design resembles Sugoi's RSE bib shorts, which I do not prefer. The RSEs elastic gripper over time wears out in the way that it loses its elasticity and stops hugging the bottom of your thighs. I prefer some sort of elastic band but that's all personal preference. Some people are sensitive to elastic bands with rubberized grips, so those who are sensitive may like the blacksheep/sugoi design more.
As long as you don't wash your good stuff in a machine, it will last a long time. Always hand wash ur expensive bits | Coincidentally, I am selling a pair of Sugoi RPM Bibs, size S, if anyone here wants it. Brand new with tags.
Also have a pair of Sugoi Evolution Team bib shorts, size S, with red coloured leg cuffs, again brand new with tags.
PM if interested.

TIA

I ride to richmond on the canada line bike lane which isn't bad at all but I tend to go through river road and sweep around Riverrock. I'll definitely check out garden city as a bike way, it's just the people that turn right onto alderbridge heading north on garden city that scare the piss out of me.

I ride into Vancouver from Richmond and take Railway -> River road -> Riverrock to Canada line and take the same route back. I don't have the guts to ride on Garden City in the afternoons when all the C-lai's are driving their kids home from school.

Try to avoid any speed shops during this time of year. It's race season and their repair schedules are 2 weeks out.
Edit: I can only think of Dunbar Cycles that's even remotely close to your route.

Otherwise, Garden City is surprisingly great for cycling.

Thanks. | If you're near Spanish Banks, then you're close to UBC? There's Bike Kitchen and More Bikes out there, and also House of Chain on Alma. No personal experience, so YMMV.
There's also a Cap's (Krusty's) in Richmond.

A pervert who performed a sex act in front of a young woman in the street, before fleeing the scene in a black cab, is being hunted by police.
The 23-year-old woman was left “shocked and scared” after spotting the man with his shorts open, engaging in the indecent act at about 5am on Saturday, close to Liverpool Street station in the City.
He ran away after being challenged in New Street, but was filmed getting into a taxi by CCTV cameras about 15 minutes later.
Police today released two images of a man they want to speak to over the incident. They said he was carrying a distinctive sports bag emblazoned with the white logo for Rapha, a London sports brand popular with cyclists.
He was white, of medium build, shaven headed or bald, wearing a white collared shirt and dark knee length shorts.
Detective Constable Sian Astley said: “I would hope that someone would recognise this man and call us so that he can be identified.
“The woman was shocked and scared by the incident and I am appealing to the taxi driver to contact us as they may have vital information that could help us trace the suspect.”
Anyone with information should call City of London Police on 020 7601 2940 or email publicprotection@cityoflondon.police.uk. |
