2014 Evo 3 Ultegra, I'm looking at getting rid of my synapse carbon 105. |
you'll love the change in the frame geometry (if going fast is what you're into). i remember feeling like my synapse was a beach cruiser after switching to the caad. |

I only have limited experience riding the evo but from anecdotal evidence and what I've read, the evo is a great machine. The classy traditional geometry won't ever go out of style, its frame is on the lighter side, and no fuss external cabling means its easy to service. I believe the new evo has been built to take larger volume tires, I would double check that you can fit at least a 25-26c tire under there. If you want just a pure racing bike, you can't go wrong with a CAAD (cheaper, great geo), but the Evo will still have an advantage for longer rides and comfort. |
Thanks guys for the replies, I think I may pick this up, the thing holding me back is the colour, I usually find myself gravitating towards black bikes, but this baby blue is defintely growing on me the more I see it. The only thing not stock on the bike, are the wheels, which are Shimano RS21's, are these considered an upgrade over the Mavic's? (I'm kind of green when it comes to bike parts) On a side note, any shorter riders interested in my Synapse? 2014 Cannondale Synapse Carbon 5 |
Whats a good shop to start if I want to look at getting a road/cx bike? Need to get sizing first as well. TIA |
I have a vintage bike currently with Shimano Positron stem shifters, but I don't really dig the look of it. I wanted to convert to a downtube shifter but my bike does not have any braze-on bosses on it. I have a few options 1)Clamp-on downtube shifters but the clamp sizes were mainly 28.6mm while my downtube is 31.8mm. Will the 28.6mm stretch to fit or is that too big of a stretch. 2)Oversized clamp with braze-on bosses but these oversized clamps cost quite a bit $50/70 not including the shifter 3)Buy braze-on bosses and weld onto the bike and buy shifter. Mainly doing it for aesthetics, plan on stripping the bike down and painting it. So I want to do a mock up of final build before painting it. Any suggestions on thoughts about this. |

2. How tall are you? 3. What is your budget? (For the bike only) 4. Do you have any brands in mind? STFU TOS'd! |
Cannondale CAADX 5 105 Road Bike 53cm i feel like this is a steal?? 105 equipped CaadX for cheaper than most people's wheelsets/bcrduke's bartape. |
LOL What? That is a good price! |

Welding the bosses on will cost more than $70 in labour. Not sure where you found a $70 clamp, but you can get something like this for about $40. http://problemsolversbike.com/produc...shifter_mount1 Yes, you'll still have to get the shifters, depending on what you want, I got a set of Dura-Ace 9 spd ones from ChainReaction for about $70 when on sale. Good luck on your project! |
That CAADX 5 is now deleted, that was cheap, kind of suspicious too. I say this because... Remember that last story of me helping recover my buddy's bike? You won't believe this, I was browsing Craigslist yesterday, and I see a bike exactly like the one he bought after his 1st bike got stolen. Called him up and sure enough, he had his 2nd bike stolen and it was posted on Craigslist the same day. OMG, WTF... Here we go again. However, seller has not responded to me, so might be out of luck this time! |
thanks for advice will post pics once project is complete |
Well..another satisfied Pacific Multisport customer. Went in a for bike fit on Monday with my Synapse, and left the shop yesterday with this.... http://i768.photobucket.com/albums/x...psoqsmjdmu.jpg |
That was you who bought it?! Damn, man. Congrats! Heard you got a sweet price on it! Lucky bastard! :) |

No. I was on the phone with John later in the day. He told me he sold your bike. I was originally going to buy the frame. hahaha |

2015 Zipp 60s, which replaced the old version or zipps 404 clinchers http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/...ps47jxzo6c.jpg |

604, didn't you just pickup a Chinese pair? They just didn't cut it or what? |

Those Zipps are pretty bomb proof; def heavier than Chinese carbon but also more predictable braking with the aluminum brake track, will never have to think twice about whether you'll be able to scrub off enough speed on the coming downhill hairpin |
