So Canada Populaire results were in, messed up my name big time as well as my friend's. Did not label my bike as a single gear. I carried my friend's card so we both finished 7:58 so I helped him cheat under 8 hours. LOL. Waiting sucks. I got sunburned like crazy. Nice! I might solo it next year. People kept looking at me funny after I climb a hill past them and when I finish a hill then just stop to look back and wait as they pass. It's so tough to get going once I stop each time. Glad My friend it through. I did that hill on Vye twice when I stopped to wait at the top. Some guy was like, I think your buddy blew a flat and I had to turn around to find him and do that hill again. :okay:

Throw your stock tires away (or donate them) and get a good set of tires and don't worry too much about flats ever again.

General rule is every 3000KM? Some people go further, but our roads are shit, so I replace mine every season or so.

My ancient Trek 2300 is identical - steel lugs with carbon tubes. Of course it doesn't look anywhere as nice as that.

What should one look for when joining a cycling club? I'm hoping to find a more serious group to up my training, fitness and hopefully get into some crits by next season.

Edit: Also, would any of you know of a route that has a steady climb of about 20k? I believe Seymour is about 13, while Cypress is 15 with gradients of 7% and 5%, respectively.

For those with white shoes, how hard are they to keep clean? I've been wanting new shoes but been warned that they get dirty quick or they stain?

I have only ever owned/worn white shoes and they are fine. If you get dirt on it, nothing some water and a cloth and/or some light soap won't do the trick.

I've owned my Gaerne's for 3.5 seasons and they are fine, except for the minor scuff or two here and there.

Once you get your first scuff that doesn't come off, it won't matter anymore. I got shiny R171s with glossy finish rode them through damp roads to break them in. No fucks given, at the end of the day, they are shoes and getting them dirty is inevitable. I cared about scuffing my ultegra pedals for about 5 minutes.

Friendly advice from a road racer friend of mine "if you want more clicks, just do the mountain twice."
