i'd be down to roll in on my fixie :P except i'd have to climb up that monster hill on boundary to get home lol

twitchyzero 07-05-2016 04:27 PM

anyone know when lbs will start discounting Giant bikes in anticipating of MY2017?
i stopped by their W4th location and they said that's more towards end of the year but will match other local stores that have started discounting....apparently Giant stores in the US have already started doing so
still put down a deposit so they can at least ship the colour/size I want from their squamish warehouse :derp:
gonna be my first proper bike

Most likely August, like most manufacturers.

kayceeee 07-05-2016 08:45 PM

hey guys,

a buddy of mine just got his bike stolen in coquitlam, he locked it up at sunwood square (where hons/pearl fever/cora's).

hope you guys can keep an eye out on craigslist, very much appreciated.

its a 2016 Trek 1.2 C H2. he bought it from caps not far from there and has the serial number.

its in this specific colourway. he's reported it to RCMP and hopefully this turns up somewhere.

Thanks everyone!

Wow, prices for US are so good.

I really want to pickup a Giant Defy Advanced for next season

twitchyzero 07-06-2016 08:25 AM

MSRP prices are actually cheaper here with the exchange rate...with the sale the US prices are only a bit cheaper

yep i'm looking at the defy adv 2...since it's only 2 years since the last redesign I hope MY17 doesn't have drastic changes

Break from all the roadie talk.

Spent 2 days at the Whistler bike park, my last time riding here was darn near 10 years ago. I'm completely wrecked. Rode the equivalent of 3 months worth of local vertical over my 2 days. My bike did great though, I was worried beforehand riding an Xc bike with 5" travel at a place designed for full blown Dh rigs. It would have been nice to have more bike up at the Garbanzo zone, but I managed OK for the most part and my bike did not hold me back.

The wall ride below is way crazier looking in real life

Anyone ever order a wheel set from PBK and get dinged with duties?

I ordered a set and did not get dinged by any duty fees. Not sure if ordering now would be a good idea since Canada Post is striking.

Monkeywrench - do you recall when you last ordered wheels from them and which service you used? I heard horror stories from PBK and Wiggles :heckno:

UFO 07-06-2016 11:10 PM

When ordering, I would assume you'll get hit with GST, Canada Post $10 service fee, and in the case of built wheels 6% duty. Wheels are typically in a large box and are more commonly pulled for tax/duty vs. smaller packages. If you don't get taxed/duties, consider it a bonus savings. As mentioned, with the Canada post strike looming, probably best not to order things you need in a timely fashion.

I selected the free shipping option on PBK. Did not get GST hit, not the Canada Post fee, and nor the 6% duty. I guess I just got lucky when I ordered early June.

damn i forgot how expensive tires are! whats the best place to pick up a set now?

bcrdukes 07-07-2016 04:03 PM

Prices have gone up significantly :(

I ended up ordering a pair of Continental Grand Prix 4000S from PBK. I couldn't find 604cefiro's post about the place he got his Vitorria's from until AFTER I ordered the Continentals. :okay:

lowside67 07-07-2016 10:01 PM

I believe the best price for a pair of GP4000s is Merlin's... $89cdn for a pair with 2x free tubes: https://www.merlincycles.com/contine...00c-71989.html

Not mine or anyone I'm affiliated with. $90 is a deal especially if you fancy 25mm. Make sure your bike clears it tho, they run big.

Just emailed, thanks. Trying to avoid ordering from the UK on account of the postal issues.

Correct. While on the topic of Ant+ compatible phones, which phone are you using? I'm due for an upgrade in 2017.

I'm late to the party, but tough luck for Alberto Contador of Tinkoff in the TdF.

Froome back in the yellow jersey. Not much action from Team Sky otherwise. Movistar has been playing it quite coy for the past few weeks. Cannondale team just isn't as exciting to watch anymore. :drunk:

tomatogunk 07-10-2016 08:32 PM

Anyone here have any experience dealing with ICBC over a personal injury claim? I basically got rear ended by a car earlier while riding my bike. Nothing too serious but I wanna get my bike checked out to make sure there are no cracks in the carbon and no structural damage involved

chunk_stir 07-10-2016 09:08 PM

So after climbing Mauna Kea las week, this is what I did for the upper descent (still have other videos to edit and upload):

twitchyzero 07-10-2016 09:10 PM

^ ouch, all the best
i think i'll ride with an action cam in case something like that happens

Which lbs carries the largest selection of accessories?

which American online retailers have hassle-free returns? I like companies that have UPS prepaid labels
