I want to think that La Bicicletta and Speed Theory would have the most accessories? (I guess that depends on what you are looking for.) MEC surprisingly has a lot of stuff these days, too.

As for US shops that are Canadian friendly? None that I know of. Maybe Jenson USA but yeah. :fuckthatshit:

anyone doing stp (seattle to portland) this year?

lowside67 07-11-2016 05:33 AM

As an update, made an order from both Wiggle and Merlins in the last few weeks, both about $125cdn. Both were delivered Canada Post and both had a $9.95 processing fee plus GST. (No duty). Only 4 months ago I had ordered a $750 order and it came CP without any charges. Weak sauce.

Man, all I'm seeing is overpriced bikes on CL.

Example:
2015 Cannondale CAAD8 56CM ROAD BIKE Shimano Tiagra

Man, if this was the right size, I'd be all over it:

Can't believe I even have to post this but watch out for idiots playing pokemon go. I was going down the Dunsmuir lane and some idiot crossed on my green because he was balls deep on his phone with headphones in looking for Pokemon. Almost ran him over, wasn't willing to wreck my bike and leave him unscathed :fuckthatshit:

So I just got back from a week in the Yukon. I've been wanting to go up there forever to do some mountain biking and finally had my chance! Signed up with Boreale Explorers, and it was awesome. Got to ride in Carcross and Whitehorse. Would definitely recommend it, so many trails, and so much different terrain, I barely scratched the surface. Opted to rent their bikes, instead of bringing my own, which was a good choice, since they let me ride a Giant Trance 2, which is better than anything that I own. Looking forward to going back! And some photos...

That looks 'too good to be true'.

falk, puncture in my tire, got the entire tube replaced, but after mounting, the wheel has a bump...

tried to deflate it and reinflate again to ensure it's not pinching the tube, inflate again, but still no luck.... ai... suggestions?

bcrdukes 07-14-2016 05:19 AM

Did you hit a pothole or a huge bump while you were riding?

6793026 07-14-2016 07:08 AM

can't tell. it wasn't until end of ride that i realize there's a puncture.

bcrdukes 07-14-2016 09:40 AM

Maybe it's just a bad tube. It can happen sometimes. Inflate it while it's off the wheel.

bcrdukes 07-14-2016 09:59 AM

Got dinged for duty/taxes on an order of tires and tubes from PBK. This is the first time from a long time. :okay:

Does pbk ship Canada post as their default 'free tracked'shipping option? So you got hit with only $10 handling fee, not outrageous brokerage fees?

bcrdukes 07-14-2016 10:13 AM

Correct.

PBK's "free shipping" option (I don't think they offer tracking anymore? Could be wrong) is shipped using Royal Post/Canada Post. So I got dinged taxes and a small fee, not an outrageous $57 UPS rape your ass fee. I ordered last week and it already showed up, so I am happy. I had feared the potential strike. :D

I guess I can't really complain, because if I bought the tires and tubes locally, I would have had to pay an extra $50 or so.

need some wheel shopping advice!

i've been shopping for an used wheelset and narrowed down to these options

"climbing"
- dura ace c24
- fulcrum racing zero (brand new)

"aero" specifically chose options with alloy clincher, im too scared of carbon braking :okay:
- easton ea90 aero
- zipp 404 hybird clincher

I'm wondering how big the aero benefit is on flat and are they hard to climb with? Or if I went with the climber, am I going to be drastically slower than other bikes with aero wheels? Any of these would be an upgrade to the Bontrager Race Lites I'm currently using. I've been reading too many online forums and the opinions are all over the place :lol

I wish I can bring my bike. I'm going next tuesday for work. Sucks every time I go up because I don't drink. Seems like besides nature, all there is to do is drink, or bum around at superstore.

bcrdukes 07-14-2016 01:13 PM

What year are the Easton EA90 wheels? You have to be careful as there are certain releases of the hubs that fail prematurely and are not easily repairable and/or cannot be warrantied as Easton went through some corporate restructuring/acquisitions over the past few years.

You can ship your bike, it's only $25 on Air North. Are you kidding? Nature is where it's at! You can always rent a bke from Icycle, they have Cervelo's and Giants for rent for $50/day. Lots of highways, with few vehicles, to ride your heart out. Or rent a mountain bike and hit the trails, all accessible from town. I don't know about you, but I could have easily spent another week there going hiking, kayaking, fishing, rafting, trail running, seeing the sights, etc. If you're into history, there's a couple of museums in town and a brand new cultural centre. Or take the trolley down to Carcross and check out the little town, or visit the 'smallest desert in the world'. The only drinking I did was at the ranch, and at one of the craft breweries. If you have a car, you can visit the Wildlife Preserve or soak in the Tahani hot springs as well. Have fun!

ZN6 07-14-2016 06:11 PM

Yeah when Im there for 2 working days and i don't like the bar, the yukon has nothing to do. I go there, meet our client then we leave the next day. So ya bumming around super store. Bad time, no nothern lights or anything. Can't do shit there while working.

Would not go if i didn't have to. Yukon fudge gave me a headache.

Kidnapman 07-14-2016 06:56 PM

Hiya folks, plan on getting a fixed gear. What do ya'll think of the Kilo TT for us Canadian folks?

Anybody catch the Gastown Grand Prix? Was at the airport and saw a few riders heading home. Looks like a pretty serious race.

^no, missed out on Gastown, but I caught the Giro Di Burnaby last night. A wet start to the women's race with a big crash in a corner with about 15 laps to go. Then the rain stopped and the roads dried up quick, and an Aussie won. Men's race was pretty exciting with 170 guys starting, but probably half were cut within 8 or 9 laps. There was one guy riding a steel lugged bike!

For those considering doing a Fondo, the Penticton Fondo is awesome in comparison to Whistler. Location, terrain, swag, support, post celebration was A+. The okanagan is just so nice during this time.

I rode in support of a buddy was coming off a concussion. Still finished the 160km in 4hrs35 which was great!

Our men's and women's team won the team podiums. And our guy Jon Bula took 3rd overall.
