might not fit your pump, but you can attach your pump to your bike perhaps, or stick it in your jersey back pocket...or just go with Co2 cartridges.

The guys in the store were like "ERR, there is NO WAY you can take two bikes" and were laughing at me. Worked out well though their initial "tune" was shit... I can handle adjusting some stuff on my own so not worried and for the price that everything came to, to be expected.

and I apologize that our initial tune was not done to your standards. If you dont mind PMing some of the issues you found, as well as snap a pic of the technician's signatures I will address it with the tech that tuned your bike.

There were no major safety faults or anything, just a few annoying ones... on my bike - stem not straight, rear derailleur not quite right - skips in the lowest and highest cogs. On the girlfriends, there is a ton of front brake drag and the bars are kind of silly how far back they are tilted. I will take care of them all myself, less hassle than coming back in, but thanks!

Still unacceptable on our end....especially for my tech team...which are all VERY experianced bike techs....so it shows a lack of care of their end.

Which LBS has a good selection of giant or/and specialized road bikes?

Different Bikes carries Giant. I stopped in the Burnaby store and they had nothing for road bikes, sent me to Vancouver (Broadway). I went there and they had a few which I test rode but not much of a selection really. I hear the West Van store is the best place for a road bike but I didn't make it out there.

FYI I went in about July 27th right before I bought my Jamis and test rode a Defy 1 there which has an MSRP of $1389 for a 2012 model. When I was getting ready to leave, the manager mentioned they will be going on sale August 1st and would give me the "sale price" if I wanted to buy it then... which was $1189 for a 2012 model. They may or may not be on sale but it shows they are willing to dicker on price which is more than a lot of shops will do, especially on 2012 product.

I never was able to test ride a Specialized, sorry can't help there!

I just bought a bicycle and just put 23 km on it last night!!
I was just exploring my bike computer today and it has this little counter for lubrication and maintenance. So I was wondering what kind of regular maintenance is required for a road bike if it is only ridden when not raining?

Also, do any of you guys have an issue with small hands and STI shifters? I have pretty small hands and I can't seem to go full on the brakes because of my short fingers. Is there any way I can make the levers come closers to the handle bar without buying a new shifter?

Anyone want to do a gaglardi hill climb with me tonight?

I got my Giant Rapid 3 at Dunbar Cycles on the west side. Great selection of Giant hybrids and road bikes (Giant is the dominant brand they carry). They are mostly a mtb shop though like most in the lower mainland.

I went in asking for that model and told them different bikes costed $xx. They offered me the same bike for close to at-cost price. Sweet dealing with them, although it was a 2011 model (I bought it at the end of 2011 when 2012 models were out).

You can buy a shorter (or higher angle) stem, this is the part that connects the handle bars to the frame (along with the headset). You can find them at most bike shops for less than 30 bux.

Not sure I'd recommend a road bike as your first bike, especially for commuting purposes as described in your previous posts.

Finally finished my Rocky Mountain Solo build up today and went for a quick spin around UBC. I was fearing the 53-39/11-28 gearing was going to be too tall but I think it will be fine. Bike feels really stable at speed which is a bit of a surprise as I was expecting it to be twitchy based on past road bike experiences. I'll bring it in for an official weight once I get my Easton seatpost on, but it feels way lighter than my 25lb mtb. The build was only supposed to take a month but ended up taking almost 3 since some parts were back ordered, I changed my mind on wheels, etc etc. But it was all worth it in the end
