Any Rapha discount codes? |
Not at this moment as their sale is on.. |
Would they have similar sales this fall/winter for spring/summer gear? Or would this current sale be the last one for the year? |
There's another one after Christmas ... |
3 orders placed in last 3 weeks. All got taxed and dutied Pbk ribble raceview |
Ordered 4 road tires from Ribble for $65. Got charged $23.50 for $285 value (on custom form) ??!! I'm applying for refund, instructions on reverse side of custom form. |
I got my 1st of 2 packages from Ribble, didn't get taxed/duties. *knock on wood*. But it looks like customs did open the box. Was labelled as Commercial Sample from Ribble. |
I've been on the lookout for smart trainers and originally had my eyes set on the wahoo kickr. Unfortunately, due to budget constraints and the fact that the price of a new Kickr is almost a new bike, I decided to look around. According to DC Rainmakers blog, the Tacx Vortex Smart is the best trainer in the $500-$1000US range. These typically go for $699 CDN + taxes here. For those interested in taking the plunge to smart trainers, I found a deal on bike24 for 277 EUR ~ 445 CAD shipped with today's conversion rate. Never ordered from them before but according to some folks at RFD, Bike24 ships via Germany DHL and then hands it off to Canda Post (hope they don't go on strike) and fees came up to simply the taxes + $10 handling charge. So just a little over $500 CAD all in for a brand new smart trainer. |
I've played with s tacx smart they're pretty neat with the auto adjusting tension. If you're going to do zwift it's a good investment. Get the one wear when you're going downhill the flywheel will adjust lighter However I've never owned a trainer, opted to invest in a winter bike and gear :) |
Anyone with a referral code for ProBikeKit? |

Just got dinged with tax and duties on a package from PBK (value 156) Customs totally destroyed the packaging too, not a single tube was in its box :lol |
I would gladly pay the customs/duties/taxes for Canada Post over UPS/Fedex any day. :o |
Damn i just bought m520 pedals to replace my worn commuter a530s for $31 it better not have like $20 duties on it..... |
Just got my 2nd package from Ribble, and no duties/customs, but it was opened once again. Got another package from PBK, tires & tools, and was dinged with Customs/Canada Post fee. Value was $107.xx, and duties/fees came to $23.03. Ouch. But still, a very reasonable deal imo. So, judging from everyone's experience here, it does seem kind of random when they want to ding you. Good luck everyone. |
Spoiler! Black one looks sick! I'll probably pick one of these up. |
Did some riding last weekend in the wet roads and in the morning and it was cold. Wasn't until long ass riding and getting up to speed that it got better. Got me some booties, so excited to layer properly and continue riding. Winter training here I come. |
Raceviewcycles order came no tax no duty. Phew! |
damn, weigh in today, i still feel so damn heavy at 176lbs.... and with the weather going to shit, i think the riding will be limited to daily commutes going into september..... anyone have suggestions for spd shoes that are relatively water resistant? |

It's not about staying dry, it's about staying comfortable. Invest in a solid pair bib tights (DWR if possible), overshoes, and merino socks. I've owned gore, bbb, Castelli, assos, Rapha overshoes and nothing stays dry. It just helps with staying comfortable. The main piece to the equation is merino wool socks bc it stays warm even when soaked to the bone. I wear my summer shoes throughout the fall/winter I just layer overshoes on top |
