if you have a bike that looks expensive, it'll get stolen eventually in bike storage.
if you have no choice, best thing you can do is put like 3-4 locks on it, the beefy ass ones that you'd never consider to be portable.

tomatogunk 11-22-2016 11:36 AM

Is there a shop here that has a ton of variety/stock on handlebars? I feel like the one on my bike right now is a tad too narrow and wanna try a couple out

Wormiez 11-23-2016 12:17 AM

FYI - Rapha started their Black Friday sale earlier then expected.

It's on now till Friday, and they don't seem to be re-stocking items..

Expresso 11-23-2016 10:24 AM

Any other good deals this week? Looking for a Garmin 520.

Wormiez 11-23-2016 11:49 AM

Best price I've seen for a Garmin 520 Bundle is from Wiggle

Carry ur bike thru the building until u get told otherwise. And maybe get to know the building manager?

tell them that u refuse to chain a $5k bike in a general storage area. They should understand :)

No antilock device will provide you the type of security you're looking for. A thief can break through anything when they're allowed to be alone in a room for an infinite amount of time

as long as u remove front wheel and don't be a bitch about it in the elevators, usually the building manager is ok. Just call them and tell him / her why and they are usually ok with it or at least close a blind eye

evans cycle selling 520 bundle for $344.84 cad and head unit for $267.89 cad

Just discovered this beauty of a chrome extension - Stravistix. It's literally your strava data on steroids. Wished Strava came with this by default!

EDIT: Reading some of the comments, others recommend VeloViewer too. Haven't tried it yet since I'm at work but looks good.

Doesn't Evans uses DHL though?

Other than rollers or trainers at home, what else do you guys do to keep the legs going during winter?

I have a feeling my legs will be cement when spring rolls around :lol

6793026 12-14-2016 09:10 AM

^ spin classes
We still ride on Saturdays but with snow and black ice, the group went quiet.

dat_steve 12-14-2016 10:24 AM

if you're wanting to try spin, Cycklus often does pretty cheap intro packages. they have this simulator where each bike gets an avatar and your stats are up on a screen in front of the class (fun competitive element).

Don't bother with the yuppie studios (spin society, Ride, that one by victory square, etc) which are more dancey than anything. people there seem to be more concerned about looking cool than pushing watts.

Derek_N84 12-14-2016 11:56 AM

^ Thanks Steve, I was about to ask which studio to go to (which doesn't have that gimicky stuff like handlebar push ups, 2lb dumbells :lol)

Just in it to purely spin.

Cyklus is about as pure as it gets. the "game" aspect of having the screens in the front are def motivating. almost a king of the hill type of deal mixed with sprint intervals = awesome.

I get these newsletters in my inbox from Cyklus once in a while, thought this was funny:

Quote:

We know the total body on bike workout does not deliver fitness, but now we are hearing about injuries. This lawsuit is being widely discussed among fitness instructors, and new members to the studio are telling us horror stories of injuries or serious near misses.

In one case the handlebars actually broke off during a bike pushup workout in a Vancouver boutique studio.

If your trainer advises you to do a total body workout on the bike, RUN don't walk out the door. They are either misinformed, or they are misinforming you.

So excited to get my new shoes, but soul crushing to find out that my feet are too wide for Giro's

I just got these yesterday and now I need to sell them.

Giro Factor Techlace in size EU 41 or US 8. Brand new tried on for fitment.

$400 for anyone interested.

bcrdukes 12-21-2016 07:53 AM

Giro's are very narrow and my feet are a "D" width.

trollguy 12-21-2016 09:32 AM

Multi-D

lrjs604 01-03-2017 11:19 PM

i got an extra set of look keo 2 max pedals if anybody is interested. Brand new in box

Derek_N84 01-04-2017 08:35 AM

for RS only

Free pair of Mavic Aksium shoes in black size 10, they're my first pair of road shoes and they have scuffs (used 3-4 months max before I upgraded) but would be good for someone just starting out with cycling. I was going to sell them cheap but just thought I'd extend some goodwill the same way RS cyclists have done for me. (Please don't claim them and then sell them :lol)

Any recommendations for good/comfortable cycling shorts?

604CEFIRO 01-10-2017 12:32 PM

21 questions :)

What type of cycling do you do?

What season(s) are you buying it for?

What's your budget?

Road cycling and I'll be mainly riding during spring/summer. Unsure of what it would cost for a good pair of shorts but I would say ~$100.
