The idea of having carbon wheels and not having to worry about heat and the condition of the brake track is tempting ...

So.. Venge Vias Disc for coffee runs?

I would settle for Cervelo R3 Disc. Everyone else in the city is riding Cervelo, I don't want to be left out!

Weight of disc brakes cancels out weight of carbon rims. Cost of both components is a premium vs. calipers and aluminum rims. I guess longevity of replacing a disc rotor vs a rim with a work brake track if you run heavy mileage is a consideration

For me, I'd never ride in the rain or inclement weather, so I'd never see the benefit of discs.

I walked into Bicicletta one time (Broadway, west of Main) and they carried Felt Road bikes, not sure about the cruisers though.

anyone know of any shops that have giant anyroad 2 instock? they seem to be sold out

ForbiddenX 07-13-2017 10:50 AM

For long morning rides, do you guys eat before you go or do you wait until you get home to have breakfast? And have gels/bars on the road?

I've mostly been riding in the evening after work so I don't really have any experience going early morning.

Yes eat carbs. You need energy from the get go.

Never go morning rides without breakfast. Always eat light the night before anticipating a long ride the next morning.

whole grain stuff and oatmeal with fresh fruit is good for slow and consistent energy release.

Always start off with a nice gulp of water and pre hydrate before every ride and go out with at least a bottle with some sort of electrolyte in it. I use some gatorade powder.

Personally, I hate gels. They're quick and gets energy to your blood, but i simply cannot take the after taste of most gels and having to chase with water. I prefer the stuff that has a bit more substance to it like a chew or bar. Those honey stingers I got in penticton are pretty damn awesome though. I wish I loaded up my pockets with the packs of them.

who's down for an RS boob meat bike edition?

ForbiddenX 07-13-2017 02:46 PM

Have you tried born gels? They're very liquid unlike any other gel there in the market and they taste great too (at least the apple one).

Born North America | SUPER LIQUID GEL

TOS'd 07-13-2017 10:19 PM

hmm, i should check those out. Apple seems like a safe flavor. I've had some funky flavours like peach or apricot that didn't sit well.

Thursday night boob meat? name a place and time.

ZN6 07-14-2017 09:18 AM

So tempting, but it's so similar to the canada day populaire just mostly backwards. populaire was $25.

BlackV62K2 07-14-2017 09:35 AM

I'll have to make the call soon on how much "fun" I want to have at a reception the night before the FV fondo. That's the deciding factor.....
