http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m9...k7bo1_1280.jpg I made a purchase today. Its a new old stock Giant Pistol1. This is going to be the start of my XC/mild downhill bike. The guy threw in a set of BNIB Raceface cranks, rear wheel set, bars, and stem too! I love pink bike. |
^ :ahwow: |
^ what?! Nice score!! |

Azncreationz: so u don't recommend the gore bike wears cycling jacket? I was considering looking into a gore jacket |
I think he meant Gore-tex as in the fabric, not the bike clothing company, Gore. |

There are some companies (like Taiga) who make GoreTex jackets, and specifically a cycling jacket, but I don't know anyone nor seen any reviews for it. YMMV. Hmm..speaking of jackets, I've got a new Sugoi bike jacket for sale as well....:) |
Is your showers pass jacket the soft shell trainer? |
Gore-Tex makes many different fabrics. It's not really prudent to generalize the entire line-up. |
Success! Today was a long ass day driving around to like 5 different bike shops in vancity but I finally found a bike for my gf Dizzy bikes had a specialized dolce women's road bike in size 44cm which fit well http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/...16CF32AA85.jpg |
Couple more parts I bought for my build. I'm hoping this is going to be a sub $800 build but I'm thinking closer to $900 complete. http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m9...k7bo1_1280.jpg I have a Marzocchi fork coming, and I'll need a 26" QR front rim. Still waiting on a good deal on hydraulic brakes. |
A build always ends up costing more than budgeted...imo at least! Nice score on your parts! Do you need a handlebar? I've got a new Easton (Aluminum) bar, and a couple different stems for sale. Also have a couple of Race Face stems. All new. Will have to check for length and sizes though. As for my GoreTex comment, no I'm not slamming everything Gore Tex, just my own previous experiences with GoreTex cycling jackets. Maybe you don't sweat as much as I do, so YMMV, and it may very well work for you. BCRDUKES: Will try to remember to give you a call tomorrow, if I make it back to my place at all about the tire. I may not return home until Tuesday. |

Ordered online and got them installed on my Devinci today and damnn so much breaking power. I can easily do a stoppie without even leaning forward. :sweetjesus: Its light years ahead compared to the stock Juicy 3's that were on the bike before. Gonna take em on the trails maybe tmw to see if there's any noticeable fade. |

azncreationz- I have a fatty bar and a regular stem :failed: So I will need to change either component. PM my your wares with info! LP700-4- I was looking at Avid's from 1's (new $100) to CR's (new $200-250). I will check out the SLX as they are in my price range. hud 91gt- Thanks. This rear shock has no lockout, just rebound adjustment. I'm curious about rear lockouts too, as my front shock will have them. Frame was $100, the guy threw in cranks + bottom bracket (new), rear wheel(used), bars(used), stem(new), and well used seat for an extra $50 :notbad: |
$100? Are you kidding? hah wow. I was just cruising Sportchek and found the GT Force 3.0 on sale for 1839, and with the team discount I could get it for $1500. Anyone have any suggestions in that pricerange? Seems like a killer deal for an all mountain bike. http://www.sportchek.ca/product/inde...767829.3758104 Jamis Ventura Race and a GT Force 3.0, both for killer deals? I never knew I liked Sportchek so much :p The things that concern me on the bike are the brakes. I've been out of the loops with mtn Bikes for about 10 years. The only decent brakes back then were the Hayes, Hope, Shimano XT's were alright. Also the Avid Mechanical's did a pretty damn good job, they just didn't have any modulation. I'm so lost with all these new products. The fork also seems to be quite low end, but what can you expect for that kind of money. |

yesterday did the inside loop three times with a friend who motivated be on the way up, made it a bit easier, went today alone and i could only do the inside loop once and then did the outside loop twice. bad idea since its so packed but its a lot easier lol. gotta train harder and take advantage of the sunshine we have left. |
Dat downhill...:sweetjesus: |
Yesterday, did the Vancouver Triathlon where we had loop around Stanley Park 2 times (or 4 times depending on the event). It was awesome to see a whole bunch of high end, 6,000-10,000 road bikes and time trial bikes going full tilt in a private circuit. Got me a huge broner. |
that prospect point hill gets easier every time you do it - keep it up! i like to begin by spinning up with a higher cadence the first half then i'll drop a gear or two and attack the last half standing up. |
^^ True dat. I guess what I hate about that hill is that not only does it incline, it turns too....sharply! Its a bitch when you also have to worry about cars. Yesterday at the triathlon, we had all the lanes to ourselves...and going up that hill with a little more room and less worry is much better. I killed that hill! |
Going up that hill to Prospect Point for me is a love/hate relationship. Same goes for SFU. And Steve is right. It gets easier each time. :alone: Quote:
