Anyone hear of any good road bike deals going on these days? My sister and her husband are looking. I've lead them to the Jamis Ventura Race at Sportchek in men and womens. I think they are pretty hard to beat for less then $1000 with the Team Assist coupons. Everything else in that price range seems to be Sora/Tiagra components. They can't really afford anything more then $1000 each. They would love sometyhing where you could attach panier bags on the rear, which with the Ventura Race you cant with the Carbon stays. |
^^^ I'm more impressed with the wheel strength then the frame! I'm afraid to go off curbs with my road wheels. Hah |

Apparently wd40 has a bike specific line WD-40 BIKE | A comprehensive line of bicycle care products developed for cyclists and mechanics Posted via RS Mobile |
Just in the market looking for a cycling computer. Saw some ranging from 30-80. Currently just using my iPhone and Endomondo for tracking purposes. Any suggestions between wired or wireless and also should I get one with cadence? If its just for casual riding should I even get the computer or just stick with the app? Thanks Posted via RS Mobile |
I have a Cateye Strada Wireless, it seems to work pretty well and was super cheap, I think I paid around $30 for mine from Jensen when I ordered my pedals. I like being able to quickly see speed and also the time and trip odos without having to pull my phone out of the saddle bag personally. Mark |

They were cleaning it, were they not? That's not how I lube my chain! On a different note, WD40 works great to clean your chain prior to lubing. More of an issue with Mtn bikes and all the dirt and grime associated. Posted via RS Mobile |
Lol yea if u click my link above u wd40 actually has bike frame cleaners, degreasers and lines specifically for bikes now Pretty neat Posted via RS Mobile |
Picked up a set of Vittoria Rubino Pro tires since most of my riding is on pavement. They are much quicker rolling than my cross tires, but dropping from 32c to 25c sure increases vibration and bump sensitivity (not to mention the mental impact of looking down and seeing way less tire). Fingers crossed that flats won't be an issue! |
anyone get a chance to get out there an enjoy the great weather today? lol 9am start at la bicicletta. Cycling Activity 58.62 km | RunKeeper surprisingly tho, there were a fair amount of groups out riding in the rain |
1 Attachment(s) Got my CAAD10-4! :woot2: Loving the SRAM Double Tap system so far. Shorter shift throws to gear up and down. The front deraileur is crisp and clean - almost faultless compared to my Ultegra setup. I fucking love this bike! So much more lighter than my Diamondback Podium 4 and is so much more comfortable. Should have just bought a Cannondale to begin with! :ahwow: I bought the bike from John @ Pacific Multisport on Main and E.28th and a basic fitting was included. There wasn't much to be adjusted other than seat height, position, and cleat position. I knew I needed a 10cm stem already and only minor adjustments were needed. I eventually will have to get used to the bike first then head back to make finer adjustments. He charges $120 for fitting which IMO is good value but YMMV. A fitting is as good as the person who is fitting you so I'm impartial to any shop. John spent a good hour with me to make finer adjustments etc. He specializes in mostly road racers and triathletes so...yeah. For now, I need to put on some mileage on the CAAD10. :D P.S. - Weight of bike with my Specialized seat, Easton stem, bar, seat post, and Shimano 105 pedals weighed in at 7.92kg / 17.4lb. Everything else on the bike is stock. :fuckyea: |
^ Beautiful bike! Swapped my impossible-to-keep-clean white hoods with black hoods and almost raised a blister in the process....those suckers are tough to get off and even more so getting the new ones on. |
sweeeeeeet digs bcrdukes! is that a specialized romin saddle or toupe? I've been thinking of trying something else (have a fizik arione now) and those are on the list. |
Toupe. I prefer it over Fizik but that's a personal preference. I got mine at La Bicicletta. No regrets on this saddle whatsoever! :D |
Sweet ride yo! |

Not set on carbon at all. I really like all the steel frames out there, but nothing can compare in that price range. Not even close. Anything with a 105 Group set is $1500 plus, and with that you usually get a Aluminum frame + carbon fork. The pannier mounts are not a need anymore, I have found many systems which can adapt panniers. For the amount of time they will actually use them, I doubt a touring bike would be worth it. |
nasty winds this morning by the water! wasn't expecting it and i felt myself tipping sideways. would have been the lamest of bails especially in front of the jogging yoga milfs. |
Where are these said yoga milfs Lol Posted via RS Mobile |
So I'm about to pull the trigger on a Thule Raceway 9002 3 Bike Trunk mount carrier. I have a 2012 TSX and a Subaru impreza outback so I need something that can go on both. Anyone got one of these? Cap-It richmond is asking $269 which is fair i think? Online i've seen them for roughly that. Thule Raceway 3 Bike Carrier - Trunk Mount Thule Trunk Bike Racks TH9002 |
The Saris Bones is the standard for trunk mount racks, and considerably less by ~$100. IMO a top of the line trunk mount rack and a mid-range trunk rack really is about the same functionally, may as well save some bucks. I use a roof rack system myself since it can carry skis and snowboards in the winter as well, and a cargo box if needed when we do roadtrips. |
