Awesome gear Hypa. I kinda quit downhill after I broke my wrist. The adrenaline you get from it is unmatched.:toot:

Got my Scott Sub 30 today for a pretty good price - brand new too! :)

New wider handlebar/60mm stem added since the pic. Haven't ridden since early Aug when I went into a tree and broke my hand and ribs, and managed to significantly bend the seatpost forward with my groin.

With a second kid on the way I may end up with a road bike instead. Potentially safer than launching off sketchy jumps into trees?

I am also looking for shoes.. anyone got some recommendations.. Currently riding on a brodie romulus.. :)

Yes, you 'should' have experience with riding in a group, yes it makes a huge difference. At the start and over the Lions Gate, you better be moving with the flow of traffic, or you'll get hated on... Since it's not really a race (for the average rider), then drafting is somewhat allowed, but some riders don't like being drafted. And if it's your first, get on your bike and start training, including hill repeats.
Shoes, if you want cheaper, go to Sports Junkies, they have a bunch of new DMT road shoes there. If you want expensive, then go to La Bicycletta across the street.

Would you sell me the stock pedals, if you're going clipless? If so, how much?
And nothing says NOOB like the pie plate on your rear wheel. Get rid of it asap.

I don't know if I want to go clipless yet haha.

Unless you have a set of Shimano SPD's for trade + cash. :hotbaby:

I'll take the pie plate out once I'm ready for the road. Still on the Kurt Kinetic.

dat_steve 02-25-2012 12:29 AM

Get one. SOOOO worth it. I got myself the Kurt Kinetic trainer.

I wasn't convinced at first but seeing it in action at La Bicicletta on W. Broadway, bought it and started riding it at home for over a month - made a huge difference. The best part too is that you can tune/adjust your bike on it. :)

I probably missed it somewhere in this thread, but woob, what do you ride? :)

woob 03-08-2012 06:52 PM

2011 Cannondale CAAD10. I've actually never posted a pic of my bike because I hadn't had clipless pedals yet and flats on bikes are ugly. Here's a pic of the bike in October (yay for 2011 bike clearance sales):

Now, with more Strada, Shimano, and Sidi!

As you can see, the shoes and pedals are still fairly new. Still getting the hang of this clipless business.

bcrdukes 03-08-2012 07:03 PM

Holy shit. Nice setup!

How long have you been riding for? And where'd you get the Cannondale?
And the bike stand? I'm looking for one. Might be adding another one to the collection tomorrow.

dat_steve 03-08-2012 08:24 PM

nice caad 10!! i wish i got myself a caad instead of my synapse, but i thought I wanted a more relaxed geo when i started riding. now the stem is slammed and post is up...looks kinda funny.

cannondale crew unite!

bcrdukes 03-09-2012 04:24 PM

Just went to see a 2010 Bianchi Alu Carbon Veloce - offered a fair price with cash in hand.

Bitch refused it because she wanted $50 more. :fuckthatshit:

I've been riding since early October - I only bought such a nice starter bike because it had the best price/performance ratio for bikes with 105 parts (at least that I could find locally). Bought it at Caps Westwood PoCo. The stand is my dad's stand that's he's had since 2003-ish. He said he bought it at The Bike Doctor on Broadway.

I'm gearing up for the 100k Pacific Populaire in April and then R2CC in June!

bcrdukes 03-10-2012 05:25 PM

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the bike? I'm asking because I'm looking for something similar as well with the same specifications as your bike.

bcrdukes 03-11-2012 01:12 AM

Finally installed my Shimano SPD-SL cleats & pedals. Pardon the sole wreckage. Do not walk on them w/o cleats. :D

anyone have any recommendation on what to start looking for a basic roadbike? Or any sites listing what entry level bikes there are? I am just looking to commute around town and looking for speed for the occasional workout. Thanks

My first "bigger" bike, 08 Santa Cruz Bullit:

Didn't ride at all last year but am looking forward to getting back to it in 2012!
