Pretty nice out today, went for a ride with a good buddy of mine.
Went up to SFU, did a loop around Stanley park on the road, stopped at Musette Cafe, then to UBC and ride back home.
It was a great ride

Invisible sky daddies commanding people to do shit is just so beyond retarded, I feel like punching myself in the balls until I shit my computer chair.

We should do a group ride!
nyahahahaha. thanks guys. yah. we should do group rides. i'd like to learn how to ride in a pelaton. me and my buddy usually free on Sundays and Mondays. Saturday night ride i guess if clear weather?
Best place to pickup powerbars, gels, gummies etc? Costco?
Cheapest would be REI in the States. I don't know about Costco, I'm the only person without a membership! Any running store carries all that too, Running Room for sure...and they just had a 20% coupon for the month of Feb! I still have a valid coupon there (perks of being a run leader there) so if you want anything from there, let me know.
FINALLY finished bulding my 2010 Kona Jake the Snake! Bought this frame like back in the summer of 2012 off eBay and have been slowly amassing the parts I wanted. Ok, the pics...
The parts list:
Frame: 2010 Kona Jake the Snake 52cm
Handlebars/Stem: Ritchey WCS Logic Curve / Thomson Elite X2 100mm
Fork/Headset: Kona Carbon Cross / Cane Creek
Front Wheel: Mavic Ksyrium Elite with Ritchey Excavader Cross tire 700 x 32c
Rear Wheel: Mavic Ksyrium Elite with Ritchey Speed Max Cross 700 x 32c
Crankset/Bottom Bracket: SRAM Force / SRAM GXP
Saddle/Seat Post: Selle San Marco Era Luxe / Thomson Elite
Pedals/Chain: Shimano PD-M530 / SRAM PC510
Shifters/Derailleurs: SRAM Force/SRAM Force
Brakes: Avid Shorty 4 with Halt Gooey pads in blue
Misc: Lizard Skins DSP bar tape, TACX bottle cage, Axiom carbon fiber saddlebag, Jagwire cables, Problem Solvers Cross cable hanger, Thomson Elite seat post clamp, BLT Dropflash (bar end lights)
Don't ask me how much it costed, because I'm too scared to tally the total. Yeah, I probably could have bought a brand new JTS, but of course, I wanted to hand pick my parts & build it to my liking. I was swapping out parts before it was even near completion, things like silver headset spacers to match, cable housings, swapped out black Thomson Elite seat post for a silver one, etc. And yes, it was built up in my bedroom!
Looking forward to putting some mileage on it.

I'm just getting into the longer rides myself, but I was amazed at the immediate difference a power bar or two did throughout the ride. I'll try gel's next time because the bars were a real pain to eat while moving. Not to mention take a ton of water to get them down. I have two bottle holders. Seems to be decent for this weather, but once it get's hot i'll have to plan my rides around refill stations. lol

I find that with bars, they take longer to digest so you don't get an immediate relief of energy. They're good for longer endurance rides and timing when you eat the bars is key. Like yourself, I find that it takes A LOT of water to wash it down.
I'm going to try something like a gel next time instead.

Cold 41km this morning because I was still feeling a little sore. But I felt like a monster tearing apart a banana with my teeth over the Burrard St. Bridge haha.
