^ yup! Most important is to enjoy the ride. Everything else is secondary! I'm not sure how many of us have bike computers, but what will help is if a few guys have at least a speed sensor we can easily set a pace b/w 25-30km. Without one its kinda hard to tell how fast we're going and the pace starts to pick up. I'm terrrrrible at setting a pace as I usually either ride with others that set a pace, or ride by myself and I just go... Lol |
does anyone here do dirt jumping on pump track? |
When in a pack, you can always let the 'slowest' guy lead. Yes, it sometimes gets frustrating, but one must remember to just enjoy the ride. Crap, I just bought an extra SRAM Force front derailleur by accident, anyone need one!? (31.8mm clamp) |
I ride for fun. That's why I enjoyed the seawall ride so much, even though it was busy as hell. Posted via RS Mobile |
My goal this year is to complete the Whistler Grandfondo. |
^ Piece of cake for you, man. |
i'm sure most of you guys here can drop me no sweat especially right now...my conditioning is horrible lol i feel totally spent even after a moderate-paced 30k. my eating and lifestyle habbits aren't exactly aligned with my riding goals lol Quote:

I don't have a granny gear and it took a while to build up the endurance to make it up Cypress. It felt so steep... |

I can barely maintain a 20km/h pace! Quote:

cypress beat me last year...only made it to the second view point and i ran out of steam. going back for revenge as soon as it gets warm enough. |
Well, why don't we all ride this then. Triple Crown for Heart | Biking three mountains in one day for Children's and Women's Hospital | Triple Crown for Heart and BCRDUKES, doesn't matter how fast or slow you ride, it's participation!! |
I hear the same thing about the 3 local mountains. .. grouse<cypress<seymour I've only done cypress Has anyone done grouse? Is it just to the parking lot? And if anyone's actually ridden the gravel road, where do u find that section from the parking lot? referencing the triple crown ride |
Alphamale and I have ridden up Grouse, but only from Marine Drive, up Capilano Road to the base of Grouse. I don't recall there being any other roads or trails that lead anywhere (to the public anyway) so whatever was shown in the Rapha video I believe was exclusive to them only. |

You're basically riding up the backside of Mt. Fromme from Mountain Highway to access the ski resort area. There are a ton of mountain bike trails that are accessed off this gravel road, and also a nudist camp too off one of the switchbacks. I've only ever bothered riding up to the 7th switchback on my mountain bike. If you keep on going up you will end up at the Grouse. I can't imagine that climb being fun in any way/shape/form on 23c tires and road bike gearing. FWIW a lot of mountain bikers push up the road anyways, and ride the trails back down. |
Nice, thanks for the info! i think i'll try the trail on my cross bike and stick my nobby tires back on I'm sure OTG-ZR2 would be down once he gets his bike :fullofwin: Quote:

How was the fondo experience? I've been told it can be a bit hairy with the amount of riders. How long did it take u to complete? Rode straight through or a few stops? Posted via RS Mobile |
It was a lot of fun. There are a lot of riders at the start (W. Georgia), but once you get on highway one, there's lots of space. I am slow...it took me a bit over 6 hours to complete. I stopped at every single rest station to eat snacks, drink, and use the washrooms!! |
After you cross the finish line and you're in the riders area, are friends allowed into the entertainment area? Ie// my gf would like to come in and chill etc Posted via RS Mobile |
She might need to buy a ticket of some sort, but yes, she can join you. |
Weather on Sunday might stay dry, might not. But i'll be doing some stanley park laps. If weather permits I might head to Whycliff / Horseshoe Bay. If anyone's down let me know! |
might be down for a quckie sunday morning if the weather holds up :) please be gentle |
