I agree with the slicks for summer! Personal opinion, get at least 25mm wide tires. If you go 23, bike will look funny with all that clearance.

As for Sunday, what time and place? Maybe for me..

You got it. All Mtn bike cable runs are above, or internal.

Spaceship_coupe 03-21-2013 12:07 PM

I'm planning to ride to the RS meet this Sunday as it'll be my first ride of the season. I'll see if I still have enough energy for one afterwards.

OTG-ZR2 03-21-2013 12:11 PM

I think that's the plan. Hit up UBC, fly down the big hill, hard park at RS meet?

Alphamale 03-21-2013 01:08 PM

Alrighty, lots of interest. I live by the Joyce area but what I had in mind would be going on a route either through 49th (or something else) and hit up SW Marine Drive, go through UBC, bomb down the hill the Jericho. Hard park/stay if you want, I'll continue to go to Stanley Park and then maybe somewhere else interesting.

As for time, probably 10-11am meet up. Anyone have a place to suggest to meet up?

bcrdukes 03-21-2013 01:51 PM

I'm a maybe. If I'm in - I'm in the slow group. :okay:

im playing a hockey game on saturday, so im a maybe for sunday.

if im in---i'll be in the slug group lol.

bcrdukes 03-21-2013 04:22 PM

If there's a slug group, it would be great for us to ride according to our abilities and let the monsters go off on their own. Maybe they'll lap us 3 times around Stanley park while we try to climb up that Prospect Point hill climb. :okay:

tgill 03-21-2013 05:08 PM

I might be in as well, slug group sounds a-ok to me.

Spoiler!

You'd be better off with the faster guys.

Alphamale 03-21-2013 07:15 PM

Since I don't know where people are coming from and I'd like to ride SW Marine, I think meeting at the North end of the Canada Line Ped/Cyc Overpass is a good point.

Be there at 11am?

dude. i can meet you around Joyce if you want. i'm by 29th station area.

UFO 03-21-2013 09:39 PM

I'm in, esp for slower pace. I have a hockey game the night before and still getting over a cold, get a bit wheezy walking up a flight of stairs. I live just outside ubc so a ubc loop to Stanley park and back is probably all I can handle.

No point going backwards. Meet up @ Kingsway and Earls, 10:15am? And then take whatever road that ends up on Cambie and bomb it down to the meet point?

azncreationz 03-22-2013 06:42 PM

I'm out, too early for me, will still be out running. Might go for a ride in the afternoon if I have any legs left. You guys have a good safe ride!

604CEFIRO 03-23-2013 09:17 AM

What do you guys feel about staggered tire sizing?

Continental offers the Attack/Force combo in 700x22 and 700x24.

I was thinking about staggering Continental 4000S' using 23 and 25.

Currently running a 700x25 tire, and like it over 23's ... it's a bit more plush for my ass.. lol

OTG-ZR2 03-23-2013 10:53 AM

I run staggered tires on 2 bikes.

Use skinnier on the rear for speed and fat up front for better handling. With a 2mm difference, its hardly noticeable. My flat bar is 38 up front and 32 in the rear.

kayceeee 03-23-2013 11:15 AM

my buddy is meeting up with someone at stanley park around noon time to check out a bike and i'll be joining him. and we'll probably end up doing a few laps to check out the bike.

so holla if you see a struggling cyclist with a cannondale cuz thats me lol

tipy 03-23-2013 11:29 AM

i m in. see you guys tomorrow

bcrdukes 03-23-2013 12:27 PM

I'm still a "maybe" on this one but if I do show up, be forewarned, I will take this especially easy in order to figure out what is wrong and what my current threshold is. I will not even try to keep up with the monsters (aka Alphamale.)

If/when you get the 4000s, let me know what you think of them. I'm currently running the Michelin Race Pro 3s and I like them but they are either very hard to come by these days and/or very expensive. I got lucky and found them for $30 odd dollars each on JensonUSA.com shipped to my house for under $80, taxes/duties in. I will eventually have to replace them I think by the end of this season.

Michelin Race Pro 3's aren't that expensive! You can find them online pretty reasonably. Here:
Michelin Pro 3 Race Tyre | Buy Online | ChainReactionCycles.com
$24 CAD. But are you man enough to rock PINK? :fullofwin:

hud 91gt 03-23-2013 03:00 PM

Baha, I'd do it in a second. Spandex is *ahem" gay enough. What's a little pink going to do :p If only I needed tires.
