iPhone 3GS Recovery Loop (unlock, jailbreak) I 3GS that keeps on going into recovery mode after I jailbreak/unlock it. I read from here http://iphonejtag.blogspot.com/2009/...w-is-live.html this is a feature of the blackra1n jailbreaking process. "If your ipt2/3GS/ipt3 is rebooting into recovery after running blackra1n, this isn't a bug. It's a feature. You need to run blackra1n every time to boot it. This 'feature', called tethered jailbreak, is enabled by upgrades Apple made to the bootrom and the fact ipt3 uses nand flash." Is there anyways to NOT have to use blackra1n to boot up the phone when I turn it off? It's fucking annoying. Edit: Okay so I did some more reading and it so happens Pwnagetools can do that except I don't have a gay ass mac. Fuck. Anyone want to help a brother out? |

what OS and modem firmware is your iphone? if it's fairly new then yeah your phone probably has the new bootrom and is only limited to a tethered jailbreak for now anyways. i'm using 3.1.2 with 05.11.07 firmware, my iphones fairly new i got it 3 weeks before an unlock was out for the 3GS. i jailbroke my phone yesterday, at one point on blackrain it says boot again to enable tethering. maybe that's what you did? anyways, i read this http://modmyi.com/forums/iphone-news...phone-3gs.html, tethered jailbreak is the only option until dev-team or geohot find a solution. but, it's better than nothing though i concur it is annoying. in the meantime i guess just enable your battery percentage and keep an eye on it so your iphone doesn't die. |
my iPhone has never run out of power, i don't know what you guys are doing. i always keep it charged or have an external battery in my pocket. mainly because its my life and i'll die without it :p |

mine lasts me a few days before having to really charge it. A car charger helps too.. |

or a solar power charger case/holster from DX |
either way, with the amount of stuff that is out for the iphones and ipods in general, its kinda hard to not find something that will work. |
Certain GS's don't require a tethered jailbreak. Look at the 4th and 5th number in your serial number. If it's <42 then you don't need to do a tethered jailbreak every time. If it's >42, then you'll have to re-run the jailbreak every time you drain your battery. Based on your experience, I'm guessing it's a newer one. If you don't want blackra1n to run every time, just load the stock firmware. If you want it jailbroken, then you'll have to put up with this every time you drain the battery. You'll lose the jailbreak (and if you ran the unlock, your unlock) so you do lose quite a bit. |
