it actually kills most plans from carriers in the states as well! Also wind's rates for US roaming/LD is actually better than buying a pay as you go Tmobile Sim!

Now all we need is free nationwide LD and roaming from all the carriers like in the states, but with roger's dominance on network towers, that wont happen.

^ I don't know about you, but $35 for unlimited province-wide or $45 for unlimited nation-wide calling is probably more than enough for 80% of the population. How often do people actually leave the HOME zone around here, other than maybe Whistler? (there are 2 WIND towers there, just not functional yet)

Since LD in Canada is only 25c/min instead of 35c/min for the big 3.. more savings yet again. Then there are free incoming texts. As far as I can tell, if the Wind signals are strong enough inside the HOME zone (I heard other cities had trouble with this in the beginning, maybe it's all fixed now) to not jump to AWAY when it's not supposed to.. short of certain corporate plans, and if you're not locked into contract, I cannot find ONE reason not to jump ship!

I'm doing my part and telling everyone and his dog about Wind. Screw Rogers/Fido. (yes I'm an angry ex-customer)

im the same as you haha. had enough of rogers for the last 10 years.

if you go down to the states, calling any number from a rogers/fido line it costs you $1.75 a min. the same call from a Wind number is 25cents. Even Tmobile's pay as you go is 22cents USD for a min.

Nice! Which store did you go to?

We had a lot of customers today activating their nexus one and n900...they were quite happy with their data speeds. One customer did down: 5mbit and up: 1.5mbit in west van, I was actually surprised, because my shaw was around 5-7mbit down and 500up...

how much did the bb cost you?

450 right?

-lincolnboi- 06-06-2010 02:57 PM

anyone know how the reception is in surrey?

FerrariEnzo 06-06-2010 04:12 PM

one of the reps has the N1 and lives in surrey.. he said he has reception, but not as great as in vancouver/richmond/burnaby reception..

dachinesedude 06-07-2010 11:08 AM

hope they put a tower up at sfu burnaby soon, thats the only thing preventing me from switching from fido

FerrariEnzo 06-07-2010 04:18 PM

i never leave van/richmond/burnaby, so this is gold for me..

NEVER had a dropped call... always have 4 bars at least when im on ground level or higher.. 3 bars when im underground.. SOOO im happy..

i have the $45 dollar plan with %50 off and the $20 charged internet plan..

I love it, didnt want the unlimited plan coz i know i wont be using the internet much.. so this 500mb one is good..

but after six months, i will downgrade to the $35 voice plan and keep the $20 charged internet.. i dont know anyone accross canada to take advantage of the $45 plan.. even $35 is more then enough for..

GomGom 06-07-2010 10:49 PM

Hold a sec, so you don't need to pay any other fee besides taxes?
$35+$20 data +tax? That's it? Can you keep your old number?

Simplex123 06-07-2010 10:54 PM

^ yes that's right, there's no catch.

GomGom 06-07-2010 11:05 PM

Dang... I still have a contract with fido until this November.

takes a couple of hours for Wind to completely port your number over... until then, your on a temp number...

its very good..

ALL the voice plans include Caller ID, Call Display, Call Waiting, Call Conferencing. only Voicemail is included on the $45 plan.. i dont need voicemail if i have call display..

For me its good.. but for people who travel to Surrey and beyond, i would tell you to hold out for a bit longer... theres been a few people who got refunds thinking that (even they were told that reception is not good out there) it would still work... lol..

rk604 06-08-2010 09:03 AM

You will pay the price of the plan plus tax, n.o other hidden. Frees

so any Quad-Band GSM phone can use Wind voice ?
& if the phone supports 3G & 3.5G(Dual-Band) can use Wind data?

& do they lock their phones for Wind mobile only?

You need the UMTS/HSPA 1700/2100 bands to use data.

Alpine50 06-08-2010 07:34 PM

Wrong. You need BOTH AWS bands 1700/2100 to use the phone, having only ONE of the bands will display your phone in "Wind Away" all the time. :)

edit: Our phones are locked wind only, but all of them are backwards compatible with other GSM carriers
