Switched to the 40$ holiday miracle plan from the 25$ festive plan. thank goodness they extended to the 5th so I can switch :)
So far the internet speed with the native browser is very good and actually faster than I expected.

How accurate is the data usage on the wind mobile website?
It is saying I used 1GB in the last 6 days. This is without doing any tethering
Just curious as it is unlimited anyways. :fuckyea:

Kamui712 01-01-2011 11:49 PM

it can't be that accurate... mine says i've used 800mb in 2 weeks. I went to "details" and counted... I've barely used 150mb.

Unless.. the website's not showing me everything... but really all I do is browse and occasionally watch a youtube clip.

BTW although it's "unlimited" I've heard they will limit your bandwith if you exceed 5gb.

Peturbo 01-02-2011 12:40 AM

I checked details, and it seems my phone is refreshing something every 30 minutes for 4MBs.
That can add up quick.

Kamui712 01-02-2011 12:48 AM

what phone r u using?

My phone's 3g connection disappeared, I thought it was a software issue at first. Then I stuck my SIM into a WIND phone, no 3g connection either.

WIND towers are probably down... hopefully for maintenance that will benefit us somehow :D

Peturbo 01-06-2011 12:23 AM

^Same thing has been happening to me all day on and off. Thought it was my phone.
I was be connected to "wind home" but there would be no 3g logo which confused me.

It is showing data usage since last bill (dec.25th)
@2GB atm. Did the math and it seems about right with 4MB every 30min + regular data usage.

T-mobile samsung Vibrant.

distanc3 01-06-2011 01:19 AM

Purely 01-06-2011 06:57 PM

nevermind, I found out why

TOS'd 01-06-2011 07:02 PM

For the $40 holiday plan, is it forever (until they change the plan) or is it after 12 months the plan goes back to regular price? I kinda recall reading something like that, but after searching the site I couldn't find it again.

So I wasn't the only one with that problem yesterday, I was connected to Wind Home but from between 6pm yesterday to 12am this morning I only had 3G but no BIS so data/bbm didn't work.

i believe its good as long as your account is in "good standing". The rep said that as long as I pay on time the plan will be available. :fullofwin:

The reps told me it's for life as long as I'm with WIND or unless if I change to another plan.

But however, they still have a disclaimer that they can "cancel" this deal at anytime... so legally they're allowed to take it away.

I pretty excited for this :fullofwin:

Excited for their coverage area to expand, and maybe someday become one of the big cell phone companies.

Maybe one day we can sell our Unlimited plan, kind of like how people were able to sell their Fido Unlimited Plans?

stolengoods 01-07-2011 01:31 PM

Some people in Toronto have been selling it, or at least trying to.

Shaw is starting up a network too, so that will be interesting in the future.

willystyle 01-09-2011 10:29 PM

Wind is really fuckin gay right now. They have a good mobile plan offer at the moment, but with no high-end phones in stock available for customers to purchase. Bold 9700 is sold out at all retails stores in Vancouver, and is sold out over the phone too. Who the fuck wants a pos $400 Motorola? it's a piece of junk! What a great way to attract new customers but with no quality cellphones for new customers to activate a new plan with.

a lot of people like to switch phones.. so does it really matter what phone lineups the cell company has?

regarding the bold9700, its being phased out for the 9780.. so thats why its harder to find it...

not everyone needs a highend cell phone.. if you look around, most of the wind customers i see either on the streets or in the booth often go for $200 or less phones... like the cheapest Huawei phones.

Most consumers buy their phones through their carriers, because it's the most convenient, its discounted and has a valid warranty. Most Wind subscribers are not your mobile phone nerd that demands the latest, most powerful android handsets from t-mobile or eBay.

The average consumer uses their phones for 2 years before they "switch" to another phone. Your arguing behalf of the minority. RS doesn't represent the majority.

Wind already has the 9780 (told by a CSR), they are just being a bitch about not releasing them yet. Wouldn't u think they'd push out the 9780 after the 9700 is already sold out to capitalize on the new activations from the holiday miracle plan?

WIND is making a big mistake by handcuffing themselves right now.

which is why i said that wind subs often go for the cheapest phone under $200... a lot of good highend phones arent released in canada, at least not right away.

older generation people dont care much about what type of phone they have as long as it works. Younger generations are into new gadgets and tend to want to have the lastest thing. How often do you see a 40+ year old person with iphone4 or nexus s or any smartphone, unless its for business use. its usually the younger kids... thats what i was refering to

StylinRed 01-10-2011 04:47 PM

do you guys get 3.5G connections??? I'm like 99% of the time on 3G and 1% of the time on 3.5G (Wind Home mind u)
