BlackBerry Bold 9780 now available at WIND http://mobilesyrup.com/wp-content/up...wind-97801.jpg WIND to announce “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Canadians” on January 24th Something is happening on the 24th of January with Wind Mobile. They just announced via a press release that’s titled “If you could talk to anyone in the world, who would it be? Obama? Oprah? Beiber? Buffett?”. No word on exactly what’s going on but WIND says they will be making “a first-of-its-kind announcement – a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Canadians – with the help of one of the biggest newsmakers of 2010, Aron Ralston, the real life mountain climber behind the fascinating story of the much acclaimed film, 127 Hours. |
^ anyone here planning to swap in for the 9780? Posted via RS Mobile |
Good I hope they release a gps phone that u can enter coordinates with. Unfortunately it's probally some form of spot connect. Quote:

Wow it's been 7 days since I signed up and Wind still haven't ported my number. Spent a total of 8 hours on the phone with 7.5 hours being on hold and they basically told me to wait another 5-10 business days. I don't want to pay for another month of service to Fido to keep my account active while Wind take their sweet ass time doing the port. This is very unacceptable. Posted via RS Mobile |

^^^ I used to wrk for a corporate store and it really depends on the information that you give to the rep when your porting your number over. The best way is to have your bill with you to prevent any delays, as the information put into the system must match the information from the carrier porting out from. When i ported my fido over to wind, it took about 30minutes, so it really depends on a lot of variables. |
i have an email with the exact info of my account on my iPhone so I was copying everything down exactly as it appear. The issue was the guy who worked there. First he put my email address wrong so I couldn't get a pin number to access my account online. Then I see he got my address wrong and didn't put "Drive" at the end of it. Then I notice for the city he put in "Dr". Also for the reps name which should be his name, he puts in my name. Because of his stupid mistakes, I wasted so much time on the phone with Wind only to get no where except to put in the correct info into my account. I didn't want to deal with this person but he was the only one working at the store. He looked like he was still in high school and probably a stoner as well. While he was doing my activation, some of his buddies came into the store to chat with him and these guys looked like they were in grade 10-11. Wind really knows which people to hire and have them run the whole store themselves. I have a feeling I'm going to spend many more hours on the phone to get other things fixed too. Wind is just making up fake timeline on when the porting should be done. They don't even know themselves so they just tell you 1-10 business day. They probably have 1-2 person working at this imaginary "back office". This is where your call gets transfer to and you wait at least 90 minutes before someone answer only to be put back on hold while they go check the "back end". Then 2 hours goes by and Wind automatically ends your call cause you reached the time limit. Now they don't have to deal with you anymore unless you call back and wait on hold for another 90+ minutes. Posted via RS Mobile |
Porting is all done through an advanced intelligent network which goes through an independent clearing house and database. There is no excuse for porting to take so long. In fact, all it takes is a porting request and a click of a button. |
If the information that you gave to the rep is correct, usually porting takes anywhere from 3-5 hours. When I ported to WIND mine was done in 2 hours. If the information doesn't match what's on your current account, then a port will not go through - you'll need to call in and correct that information. |
can anyone school me on how to tether a WIND 9700 to a mac? thanks |
Well look like Wind called me 2 days ago but since it still has a temporary number I don't carry that phone around with me and missed the call. Look like I will have to wake up at 7am and call them so they can put me on hold till 8:30am. Posted via RS Mobile |
If you navigate the system correctly and don't call at the peak hours of the day you shouldn't be on hold for more than 10-15 mins. |
I agree that the calls get answer by the front line customer service agent in about 15 minutes. They are very nice and polite so no complaints here. It's once they transfer you to the "back office" that they make you wait another 90 minutes before answering your call. Posted via RS Mobile |
Since I know the back office is open at 7am, I called at 7:02am and punch in the usual sequence of numbers to get through the menu and the front line cs agent answer the phone in 4 minutes. They transfer my call to the back office as usual where I waited another 49 minutes on hold before someone answered. They tell me it should be ported by 3pm today. I doubt that will happen as I read other people been told that and nothing happens. I will update later on in the day. Now back to sleep I go. Posted via RS Mobile |
Well 3pm past by and number is still not ported. I'm not surprised that it wasn't. So I wake up at 7am call them again and it takes 2 minutes for front line cs agent to answer and once they transferred me to the back office it takes another 54 minutes before someone answered. This time they said the Fido number can't be ported because it's in an area where they don't have coverage. WHAT!? They told me to wait another day or 2 and see what happens. I already know whats going to happen, NOTHING. I don't know what's going on so I might have to contact an outside 3rd party for some help here. Posted via RS Mobile |
have you explained to them the bullshit your facing every time you call? ask to talk to a manager or something write a detailed email to them too post it on their boards etc Anyone having problems with their text messages getting garbled on the receiving end? couple people im txting (in the states) are saying its showing up like so: me: Hey how's it going? receives: -ey 's go n ? |
why dont you just go to a wind store and have them call the office, they have a different number and it usually gets through quickly.. |
Problem solved. I made it easy for them and just got a new number. I wasn't attached to old number anyways. They should have let me know they couldn't port it last week and I would have just gotten a new number then. Posted via RS Mobile |
There's always alot of problems if the INITIAL port went wrong, because the system forwards it to a system where it universally talks to the other carriers. Once that initial port is wrong, the initial info is stuck onto the universal system, its very difficult to change it, even if the "back office" changes that info, it will still give errors/etc. The BEST way to do it is to cancel that line that is currentlly on the temporary number, demand a refund because of how long it took for you to transfer that line over. REDO the whole port process acting like it is a new port in, with new temporary number aswell. |
Sorry guys i have a pretty noob question here. Im looking at upgrading my phone and was looking at that BB9780 at wind but wasnt too sure how the data plans work. if i get the 15/month chat can i add the 10/month bb social data plan to it WITHOUT adding a regular data plan. Or would that be on TOP of a regular data plan TIA |
^^^ I'm not understanding you the 10$/Month BB Social Data plan IS a Data plan, you even said it yourself...so why would you need to add another... 15/month Chat 10/month bb social 25/month total + tax |
