| 8900 or 9700
So it's about time that i purchase a new phone, currently been using the HTC
Diamond for over a year now, great phone but i can't deal with anymore touch screen bullshit when i'm driving. That is why i have chosen to purchase a crackberry , but i'm suck on the decision of either buying 8900 or 9700. I like the feel of the trackball , although i have never tried the trackpad..
Currently with Fido right now with a 3 year plan ending in 2011.
With that say, i am probably switching to Rogers but I need to know which plan i should get.. How much is 500mb of data? I plan to use my crackberry on facebook, msn , etc.
Never owned a crackberry, just want to see how these plans work and stuff
(:

Stats-wise, the 9700 whips the 8900 ( http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3...&idPhone1=2963). The trackpad is just as easy to learn to use as the trackball; I was using Wil's 9700 and I found no problems whatsoever, there were no issues as far as scrolling or clicking or anything of the like. I'm on a 9000 now and will be getting a 9700 in the new year.
As far as data, 500MB is more than sufficient. I wish they made a 150MB data pack because I have yet to go over 100MB in the 9 months that I've had it. If you plan on tethering, it might not be enough, but for normal on-phone use, that 500 will be more than sufficient.

For normal use, 500 mb is a lot. If you don't plan on streaming or watching youtube 24/7, you'll be fine with that much data. Get the 9700, it's a smaller form factor, better keyboard, has 3g, and better battery life.

9700 for sure... unless you're on a tight budget cause the price difference is pretty big ($79 vs $249 on 3 yr).

No bands supporting it? | They keep it around as the Value-berry; for the cost conscious consumers. It's old tech now--it's got a slower processor, no 3G, a keyboard that's a bit harder to type on...etc etc etc.
9xxx is the way to go.

if it's not the money, go with the 9700. all the reasons why to go with it have already been mentioned, but I think the biggest factor for me is no 3G on the 8900. EDGE is slow as hell, especially when you're browsing.

9700 for sure,
you get 3G, as well as a much better trackpad rather then that stupid ball. I have my Bold (9000) since october last year and I swapped the ball on it 3 times already.
as for data like mentioned above 500mb should be good enough for most. If you decided to go you tubing it might be a bit more... but just keep it low.

Yeah, once those companies start advancing with their cheap plans , prices for other companies will start to plummet.

regarding 8900 or 9700, i would definitely say 9700. I've owned an 8900 for about 8months or so before making the switch to 9700, its definitely faster, though not a lot, but noticeably faster. Optic touchpad was something i didn't like at first, but after playing around with it for a few days, i think RIM made the right choice.

Did you get the 9700 yet? How much was it ar?
I feel like getting it now if theres a good deal, or wait another 2 months and start nagging/harassing fido with my contract renewal to give me one, but by then I don't know if I'll still want it >.<
Looked on CL around $500 each not a bad deal IMO
