| Do not go to Vancouver Mitsubishi!! (long read)
So here is the story:
My family bought a 2009 Lancer GTS through Vancouver Mitsubishi in mid August, and when we picked up the car a week later (since they said that they needed a few days to prepare the vehicle), we noticed that the windshield fluid was less than half full, while the coolant was sitting below the max level both when the car was in cold and warmed up conditions (I have checked it after driving it back home and it was still below the max level). We were told by one of their staffs that it is normal and since its not that big of a deal so we just kinda let it go…
A week later, the tire sensor went off due to imbalanced air pressure of the four tires – one wheel was at 25psi, while the rest ranged from 27 to 30psi. The service manual clearly states that the normal tire pressure should be at 32psi. this problem never appeared again ever since we filled the air back into the tires; so this has nothing to do with leaky tires or what not.
And recently (November 26th), we decided to try out another dealership so we brought our car to Metrotown Mitsubishi for its first oil change (btw, Metrotown Mitsu is really good on their customer service…friendly staffs and awesome follow ups!) They topped all the fluids for us (there are obvious differences from what lvls they were at when we picked up the car from the dealership). While we were there, we were also informed that there are two recalls on the Lancer - C0903S brake booster recall and C0906U SRS front impact sensors recall. I understand that the C0906U recall just came out a few weeks ago, but the C0903S recall was actually issued on March 5th, 2009 – a full five months before we purchased the car. It is ridiculous that Van Mitsu never took care of this recall before we even purchased the car.
It seems that Vancouver Mitsubishi did not do a final check up on the car before we picked it up. Other than the fluid and tire problems, the “Mitsubishi Quality Assurance Inspection” sticker that was on the car’s windshield was never signed by their technician!
I have then followed the procedure that Mitsubishi Canada and BBB suggested on their websites by trying to reach their Sales Manager, Alan Lo, for the past two weeks about this issue but there was no answer by email nor phone call. I then tried to ask their Business Manager, David Wong, to provide me the business owner’s email so that my complaint could be heard. Yet, he tried to avoid my inquiry and only replied my email by saying that they are willing to fix the recalls when we point out the issues.
I found it very funny how we have to be proactive and point out the issues so that they can fix them instead of the other way around. On the other hand, we have received a recall reminder letter from Metrotown Mitsubishi a week after my oil change, yet Vancouver Mitsubishi has not sent us any recall letters ever since we purchased the car.
My dad then called them yesterday and David said he doesn’t know anything about the recalls and kept telling us to talk to Alan instead, who cannot be reached. thats just bs....I mean...shouldnt they know more than us about the cars? You guys are a freaking Mitsubishi dealership...how can you not know whats up with your own cars.
Anyways, i just feel very disappointed at their attitude and lack of professionalism...i have just filed a complain to mitsu canada and bbb, and decided to rant here and other mitsu forums

Lots of people here have had bad experiences with Vancouver Mitsubishi and Newtype, myself included. I was quite happy with the sales experience at Metrotown Mitsubishi but I went for a different car after all.

that sucks man.
my friend used to work at Vancouver Mitsubishi as a lot boy, he quit in January after working there for half a year cuz he cant stand the cold. (hes a big pussy)
Anyways, he always told me to apply to work at Van Mitsu because, I quote, "its so slack, the techs just stand around all day and work only when necessary. Lot boys just drive cars around, like EVO X"
The funny thing is, my friend didnt learn how to drive stick until he started working at mitsu. X.x So if anyone bought a GSR there and notice your clutch going on you already, HAHA!!!!

^Umm, that's like every other dealership. A lot of lot boys learn how to drive stick at dealerships. So you're not safe regardless which dealer you go to.

| About the Recall issue, it's not uncommon for a dealer to not inform the owners of the vehicles that are being recalled.
This is my Story:
I bought the first cars of the newly re-designed model [Most likely the first shipments ]
There was a recall for every car after the first shipments.
I checked the VIN on my car and was sure that my car was not affected by the recall. I had also phoned my original dealer and recieved the same response.
About 6 months later, my car had a minor mechinical problem (not because of the recall), and it was towed to another dealer (dealer #2) of the same brand.
Dealer #2 told me my car was affected by the recall and did the change on my car free of charge.
I do wonder if Dealer #2 gets some benefits from fixing a car that is not in the recall.

hey roastpuff, yea i saw those threads...but the thing is i bought the lancer from van mitsu back in august....i did do some research on the car dealerships...and i heard that the van mitsu got a bunch of new guys in and they were a bit better than few years ago...so i decided to give them a shot (well also the fact that newtype didnt have a white gts...and it was down to either van mitsu or all the way to northshore...and van mitsu is much closer for us)
shenmecar, yea not only it sucks...its freaking dangerous now thinking back....i mean...they have those recalls for a reason...and they didnt even bother to fix the brake booster recall before selling the car is just unethical....and their selfishness and laziness could have put my family and i in danger on the road
but yea...i agree on those lot boys...i mean, if u apply for the job, dont tell me that u just want to wash cars all day....

hey cococly, well the thing is....the dealership missed my recall (or didnt even bother to check?), sold me the car, then now i find out that they didnt fix it and i point the issue to them, yet they still do not admit fault on this.
i mean, i wouldnt be so pissed and posting this complain here if they took it like a man and tell me that yes they missed it. but the fact that the sales manager is trying to hide from us and never replied just ticked me off....
btw, i dont think the dealership gets any benefits from fixing recalls...all they do is just order the parts, fix the recall for the customer, then charge the parts + labour to the auto company (so in my case it will be Mitsubishi Canada which pays for all the recall bills)

lol to answer ur question, no.
and i highly doubt alot of people use real first and last names on forums (unless u know the people that is)
and even if that is my real name....u think i will be proud to use to on the forum? lol
anyways...update: Mitsubishi Canada is like totally opposite of van mitsu...they have already replied me this morning and asked me for the full story (since their complaint form doesnt have enough space for me to type the whole story in)
so hopefully they can follow up on this and we will see how it goes

and like i wrote on the earlier post i made today, i filed a complaint to them and mtisu canada has already emailed me back this morning asking for the full story...so hopefully we can settle this matter down soon

so apparently van mitsu love missing work done on ppl's cars....

Don't be pissed off because the sales guy didn't inform you about recalls. That is totally part of service and the sales people have no idea about it. The service department should of done your recalls for you though because they get paid to do those jobs. Not sure about mitsu, but at honda, we love doing warranty work and recalls because they actually get paid more from honda canada to do these. Maybe they don't get enough hours and just take their minimum every day so they are just lazy asses. Who knows?

but the fact is alan has just been hiding from me (and there's no way that he is on vacation now and missed my email...because i have only sent my complain email to him and asked avidr for the business' owner email. so if alan is away and had never talked to david about this...then how could david reply my email on that complaint? im darn sure they talked about this.

It's not like they will run and hide from you if you actually show up there. I'm sure they are not that busy and if there were any recalls they HAVE to do them. They can't refuse to doit. So just go there in person. It seems like you have never been back to the dealership since you picked up the car because you went to metrotown mitsu for first service.

dealers only care to sell cars..they could really care less about if they actually fix shit for you specialy stuff under warranty since mechanics don't make nearly as much as if its a job with no warranty

the whole business with the recall is normal. if you went in for your first service they would of caught it and done it with no hassle. when your car was pdi, they would of checked your washer fluid, coolant (just below max is normal) and tire pressure. who knows how long your car was sitting in the lot! cars get moved around by lot boys all the time and they probably used the washer to clear the windshield. with time you lose tire pressure. weather changes play a big role in tire pressue. and again, who knows how long your car has been sitting in the lot since it was pdi by the tech.
