No Subaru RWD sportscar for North America? Subaru Unsure Of Bringing RWD Sports Car To U.S. By Viknesh Vijayenthiran December 21st, 2009 Subaru has built itself a reputation for safety on the back of its symmetrical all-wheel drive system, at least in North America, but with the development of a new rear-wheel drive sports car, the automaker’s image may be jeopardized. This is an issue that has Subaru’s management worried, so much so that it is even considering excluding the upcoming rear-wheel drive sports car from sale in North America. “We’re an all-wheel-drive brand,” company spokesman Michael McHale explained to Ward’s Auto. At question is whether brand loyalists would “forgive us a one-off exception,” he said. McHale went on to reveal that the Subaru and Toyota versions will be very similar, except for unique styling at the front and rear. http://images.thecarconnection.com/m...00230766_m.jpg |
Yeah, that's tough. When I think of Subaru, the 1st thing that comes to mind is "AWD". Just like how BMW = "ultimate driving machine". It would definitely "mess up" their reputation. If this is a joint Subaru/Toyota venture, the easiest way is to only sell the Toyota version here. Problem solved. |
just sell the two versions as a Toyota Corolla SR5 and GTS just like the good ol' days lol. |
^^^^ what he said was gonna say the same ;) |
cant wait for the toyota version then.... need a new car LOL |
